I’m hoping that by writing this, other people won’t have the same experience or feel downbeat when leaving. A few weekends ago we entered to find that they hadn’t reserved a table for us, despite us making a booking a few days prior. The lady apologised and said she took full responsibility. We said we didn’t mind coming back later if there would be a space for us then. She replied, “No, it’s fine, we’ll find you a space,” and apologised again. She moved a reserved sign off a table and told us we could sit down. I asked, “Do you need the table back when the other people arrive?” and she said, “No, it’s fine.” We ordered two glasses of wine and some olives. After half an hour, another lady shouted from behind the bar, “Is there a reserved sign on that table?” We said it had been taken off, and she rudely shouted, “Well...they’re here now,” while pointing at the customers and giving us a look of disgust. We felt awful, drank our wine, and quickly nibbled the olives that had only just arrived after a long wait. The whole experience was shocking - we could have been spoken to far more politely, perhaps simply asked if we wouldn’t mind giving up the table. It’s a real shame, as we’ve been buying beer from the shop for years, before it became a wine shop, but we’ll be taking our money elsewhere.

Such a chilled out place. Sam & Dave are so knowledgeable about their products, and they're always happy to advise and steer you in the right direction. The staff are friendly and helpful...and they love dogs too! The beer on tap changes constantly; there's always something new to try and it's always good. Well worth a visit for a drink in, and for a take out.

We visited Pickles for the first time yesterday after hearing such lovely things! We weren’t disappointed - the staff were so welcoming and friendly, especially to our lab, Hugo! He absolutely loved the treats and attention from the customers too. Lovely wines to choose from and nuts to nibble on! We will be back………………

Great service, good range of products, stocked a pink gin which is hard to find elsewhere and the packaging deserves a extra star. Overall really pleased from start to delivery.

Regularly pop in to the shop. Lovely bunch of people. This was my first visit for a beer tasting….well it was fabulous! Quiet start but after god knows how many different beers tasting it was like a gathering of old friends. Put the price up, because you definitely get more than your moneys worth!

An amazing find and a great place to spend time. The whole team really know their subject and Sam (wine) and Dave (beer) are both nothing short of experts in the field. Sam's no nonsense approach to wine is really educational and after years of pretentious wine tastings and events her approach is very refreshing. The new bar upstairs is great fun and a really lovely place to meet friends old and new.

I visited here today for the first time. I needed a good whisky for a gift but not being a whisky drinker I had no clue. The man (owner?) in the shop was super helpful and even got the door for me. The shop itself is lovely and the location is great too as its not city center and it has a very convenient layby across the road so its easy to find and park.
