We booked a fabulous flat called Sea Breeze through Dorset Cottage Holidays for a last minute getaway and what a great find. Fabulous location only about 10 minutes walk down to the town, the flat was perfect and full of everything you could need and a lovely welcome pack with gorgeous biscuits was a great surprise after a long journey. Comfy beds, great showers and totally immaculate so will definitely be back again very soon. Thanks very much DCH.
Great short break at Capstone. We were 4, all wanting our own bedroom so it was perfect for us. Mid November so we weren’t expecting to use the (small) outside space or indeed the conservatory. Parking for 2 small-ish cars which weren’t needed for Swanage itself. House is a short walk to pubs, supermarkets and the (windy!) seaside. Very comfortable house for cooking, eating and lounging around. Well supplied with everything you need. Karen at Dorset Cottage Holidays answered our few queries quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended.
This booking was made through Booking.com, however I wish it was made directly through Dorset Cottage Holidays. The day of checking I had called to confirm if it was self check in as I didn't receive any instructions. The email was sent from Booking.com stating a PIN code which I thought was the key safe. However when we got to the property we couldn't get in due to having incorrect key safe code. I was with 2 little children and despite calling Booking.com they weren't able to help us. Then they cancelled the booking & asked us to find another place, it was around 10pm then. My children were tired and hungry and it wasn't pleasant. However we managed to get through to Blake who was managing the property who provided us the correct code and we managed to get in. Then tried to notify Booking.com by then they told us they had taken another booking for following day. Which was more stressful considering there was 10 of us. Once again Blake reassured that he would sort it for us, which he did and I'm so thankful. The property was beautiful and spacious and if anyone is looking to get away to have some much needed rest, I would highly recommend you stay there. Perfect for families. This all happened on my birthday but thank you Blake for sorting the booking for us.
Sea Tower is a gorgeous 2-level newly updated and generously appointed flat (2nd and 3rd floors -- or 1st and 2nd by European numbering). The views of the water and beach, shoreline and Weymouth are fantastic. Rob welcomed us as we arrived, and we were greeted inside with a lovely gift of jam, biscuits and flapjack minibites. Coffee, tea, sugar, cooking oil, and milk were all available as well. The apartment was so very comfortable and immaculately clean. Linens and towels were perfectly laundered, fluffy and new. Hand soaps, dish soap and even 2 laundry/washer pods were provided. A welcome binder as well as an instruction binder were provided to help navigate the area as well as to help operate appliances. Two off-street car spaces were a great convenience (parking was tight but we had only 1 vehicle so it was perfect) including an electric charging station which was super! Weymouth proper was just a 2mile walk down the beach or if you prefer along the bike/pedestrian path -- a lovely walk even for our teenage and pre-teen crew. Weymouth beach was a fun hub of activity with several carnival rides enjoyed by the kids. Do check out the Cove Gallery if you like local art. A hidden gem is the Roman Ruins - Jordan Hill Roman Temple - just .6mile from the flat heading up the hill -- ruins themselves are small and peaceful with lovely views and beautiful walking paths over the hilltop. Chalbury Food and Wine is a fantastic shop also a short walk (maybe a mile) up the road with delicious sandwiches, pastries, and selection of beverages, and very friendly staff! I highly recommend. So much to do in the area! I highly recommend the Sea Tower and would love to return!
Cherry Tree Cottage is in the perfect location offering an abundance of nature, history, walks and tranquility on the doorstep. I looked forward to returning to the cottage every day it is so homey and relaxing with everything you need. It was a perfect holiday...the best I have had for many years and we will certainly return.
We stayed in a property that was clean and recently redecorated, however we weren't happy with the service from Dorset Cottage Holidays. We booked before covid and couldn't take our original holiday dates of April 2020. DCH refused to refund our payment, but they offered us the same week in April 2021 - however they charged us an additional £20 booking fee for the privilege. When the time of our holiday arrived, lockdown hadn't lifted which meant we couldn't take the full 7 nights we'd paid for. DCH therefore charged us a significantly higher daily rate (£158 instead of £108 per night) and refused to honour the original price, although we protested. When we got to the cottage itself, we found it had a lethally steep staircase. Comments in the visitor book show previous guests have been taken to hospital after having fallen down these stairs, but the staircase wasn't mentioned in the advertisement and it made the property a challenging place to take young children. We also started finding rusty nails in the garden from repair works the property owners had had done. When we contacted DCH to ask if they could make a thorough search of the garden they did nothing about it and didn't even respond directly to our messages, even when chased. They said they were liaising with the owners. The problem may be that DCH is a letting agency, whose customers are the property owners - and not the holidaymaker. The people who rent the properties are effectively just "the product" being sold by DCH to the owners. Therefore DCH's customer service is directed to supporting the property owners (who are their clients), and not the holidaymakers - and it shows. I will not use this firm again.
These guys are a total mess. Not only did it take me weeks of emails to re-arrange a booking, they then charged my card twice for the same booking. They they charged me the full deposit £250, for leaving a bowl of fruit. After a complaint they agreed to repay £190, but this money is still outstanding after 2 months. I am forced to take them to small claims court to get this paid. This behaviour suggests they have cashflow issues and may be going out of business, buyer beware.
My husband and I stayed at Greenhayes in May and were delighted with the cottage.There were so many little touches the owner had thought of. Even though it was a little cold in the living room, the wood burner was easy to use and warmed everything nicely. The location was quiet and the garden was beautiful and secluded. We know the Purbeck area very well so it was the perfect spot to re-explore our favourite places. The welcome basket was very useful and a lovely touch.
Lovely house and great location but DH Cottages were super helpful and could not have done more to make our stay perfect. Their on line chat works a treat, the details and information supplied were excellent and the call when we arrived a very nice touch. I would not hesitate in using DH Cottages again in fact we have already looked for this year !
