The property itself is very beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are lovely as well. We booked a private room which was decent enough. The carpet could use a vacuum and the bathroom does have a bit of mould in the corners. I will say that there is hot water, the rooms are warm and the beds were 100% clean. The kitchen is a basic one and there is no stove or oven, just microwaves. It is open 24x7 though which is a plus. Overall a comfortable stay. You need to keep reminding yourself that it is a hostel at the end of the day (it's easy to forget that when you look at the place) and lower expectations accordingly. For a hostel, it was a good one. No regrets.

Dear readers, this hotel left a great impression on me. The service staff team is outstanding. Everyone is so kind. The exterior is stunning. It's simply cozy like home. So peaceful. I recommend it to everyone.

Great place to stay in the area at a great price, we had a 4 bed twin bunk room with en suite. It was very basic but clean. Only reason for 4 and not 5 stars was only one member of staff when we checked in so although not busy we had a long wait and also we wanted to use the pool table but was told it was broken, 10 minutes later some others asked to use it and were given the pool cues! Think the barman just couldn't be bothered to get the cues out for us!

Service was good when needed but we used the kitchen to do our own cooking what meals we did buy were fine no problems room is basic but everything you need from usb chargers and bed light shower was warm and large enough for me to get in and out. Only thing you may want to be careful of if like me you're over 60, is to be careful getting out of the wet shower, its only a step out but at our age we know how easy it is to slip. So put something on the floor for when you get out wet footed.

Good quality accommodation at a reasonable price. The YHA has a fab recreation room, a communal kitchen, a canteen (serving a 10/10 full English/ continental breakfast) and a onside restaurant. Its also set in the most beautiful grounds around 12-15 minutes drive from Chester.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay. Bearing in mind this is a hostel not a hotel. Lovely comfortable private room with en suite. Very clean. Very basic furnishings in the room but the social areas were well furnished and comfortable. Plenty of space. Self catering kitchen was fantastic, microwaves and toaster, crockery, cutlery and fridges available to use. Hot food and drink, both alcoholic and non alcoholic, also tea and coffee. Hot food sold through the reception/bar. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We were made to feel very welcome. No tv but pool table and table football in games room along with books and jigsaws. Will definitely stay again.

Gently eased into the day by birdsong. Watched the sunrise across the fields on a misty morning. Ate a hearty breakfast washed down with good coffee. What's not to love. Welcoming staff team in Fiona, Rachel and Jake.

Nice staff, beautiful views and nice nature however there are multiple bugs and spiders in the children's rooms, which they have a fear of. There is no WiFi in the rooms and the rooms look mediocre and aren't the cleanest.

Location is perfect. The gardens are huge and really nice to walk through. The rooms were sort of small so I would only recommend staying for less than a week though. The service was okay too. Staff were friendly and welcoming. You can get drinks and snacks from the lounge although they were a bit expensive. The best part of the hotel is definitely the gardens though.
