I am very disappointed with my recent experience at this store. During my visit, I encountered a manager (a blonde woman) whose attitude was extremely rude and sarcastic. Her behavior made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome while shopping. Customer service is very important, especially in a store like Waitrose, where professionalism and respect are expected. Unfortunately, this experience was so unpleasant that I no longer feel comfortable shopping at this location and will be choosing the shop next door instead. This happened 18/12/2025 9:00am

We just stopped by for a latte macchiato. The staff was doing their job (restocking shelves). In the meantime, they helped a worried lady with maximum patience.

I went to get some light dinner and I left empty ended, shaking, humiliated and insulted. I got there maybe at 2230,. Shop open and noone at the door. My last memory was that the shop would close at 2300. Listening to some music on my earpods I thought I heard someone shouting, but didn't pay attention. That branch is not the best place where to find manners anyway. I could not guess they were shouting, like crazy at me. What for? This security guy comes at me with no manners at all, yelling that the shop was closed. "But it closes at 2300"!. "No! 2230". Since when and how would I know! I don't work for them!. I had nearly picked up all I needed and was rushing to the till anyway but since he insisted with those tone and manners, I just left my shopping on the floor. They could sort it out. Then I saw people still inside paying. That could've been me! By then it was around 2235! So it's likely I had entered before 2230. I went back to ask why there were still people inside and why did they kicked me out.. "They came earlier....We changed time since January" in a very patronising tone. How would I know!!! Why there is no timetable outside. "We don't put signs". Very sloppy and unprofessional. All this while he kept gesturing me to leave as if I was criminal or begging for money! They could've said normally, sorry we are closing, we have changed the timetable. Or even better, please make your way to the till. And why wasn't anyone at the door! So they are lazy but not enough not to shout at customers. Horrible attitude and unacceptable. Also the guy who was pushing me out, dismissed, waving his hand at his face, in a demeaning way, the security guy who was yelling at me. Both extremely rude, but I'm even less comfortable shopping at a store where colleagues treat each other that way. This branch has been challenging since they have opened. During Covid they have been the least respectful of safety and the least kind out of the Notting Hill stores. They are often dismissive, insulting, rude and entitled, except for very few exceptions.

It's not the staff that have no manners and are rude, it's other customers. If you are non-white, enter at your own risk. Be prepared to be stared down like you are some circus freak. At least I was brought up properly and my mother taught me it's rude to stare. They look as if to say, "how can you afford to shop in here"? The worst culprits are white, fifty-something males. I was trying to buy wine with the help of an assistant and I could feel the eyes of the man alongside, pretending to look for something in the same aisle, all the while his eyes fixed on me. You could have gone to the best schools and lived in the best areas, (I did and I have) but stuff all that, you are judged solely on skin colour. It's like stepping back into the 1970s. It doesn't make for a pleasant shopping experience. I won't be returning any time soon.

I would like to applaud the store manager Sabir for his kindness and humbleness. Waitrose should really promote people like Sabir who are true assets to a company. Thank you very much Sabir. Mounia
