    Very poor standards for M&S out of date stock on the shelves, one day life on a lot of meat being sold full price (I mistakenly bought one) had to freeze as soon as I got in. Not to be expected when paying premium.

    Very friendly staff at self checkout area time around 3pm on 1st April 2025. She is proactive, asking for if assistance is needed. The shop itself is a bit out dated probably due to the location and current economy situation. Again this lady makes me a happy shopping experience.

    We walked out dogs to upminster today and were wearing out walking boots and coats so I popped in about 11am to grab some bits for our dinner. The young man security guard made a point of coming over and standing opposite me with his arms crossed as if I were looking to steal something. He made me feel very uncomfortable as my phone was playing up and it took me longer than usual to pay. As soon as I made my payment he uncrossed his arms and walked away. Not my usual experience of this store it's normally a pleasure to shop here. I guess if your not dressed correctly there is a judgement made. Quite upset by how I was made to feel today.

    M & S Food is located opposite Upminster Railway station with easy access to the ground floor and access for wheelchairs. The rear access has a lift that takes you to the ground floor - wheelchair friendly. Has limited on-site parking but check the parking conditions for payment. Behind M & S there's a separate carpark I think Rooms department store owns, again check the carpark conditions for payment which is affordable for the area. M & S food there's a good choice from the classic item to something special and affordable compared to other food shops of it's type. On many visits I always receive great service and it's a pleasure to shop in the store.

    I visited the Marks & Spencer in Upminster on Tuesday evening around 8 PM to do some grocery shopping, and initially, everything was fine. However, our experience quickly soured due to the behavior of one particular employee. This young woman, likely in her early 20s, with dark medium-length hair, a slim build, and of medium height, began following us around the store. Each time she passed by, she gave me a rude, arrogant look that made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, almost like she was some sort of Gestapo officer. Her awful attitude was aggravating, and it felt like she was trying to intimidate us rather than simply do her job. To be clear, I am not asking for any special treatment, but as a paying customer, I expect to be able to shop in peace without being subjected to such disrespectful behavior. This young woman’s attitude was far from acceptable, and it took a lot of restraint not to confront her right then and there. If this happens again on my next visit, I will not hesitate to make a scene and demand to speak with her manager. Customers should not have to deal with such unnecessary hostility, especially from someone who is supposed to be helping them.

    Absolutely appalled by the service I received on 13/12/21. I had picked up the wrong item and hadn't realised until I paid for it. Asked a assistant called Jaqueline if I could swap and be refunded the difference of 30p. She huffed and said "you have to go to the customer service desk" which I then did. I was then greeted by another assistant who informed me she had to get someone else to do it, which was then Jaqueline (not sure why she didn't do it for me in the first place). She then stormed over clearly irritated with me and said "for gods sake" under her breath. I then asked her if I was causing her inconvenience and she then said "i'm doing it for you aren't I?". She then proceeded to give me incorrect change of 15p refund in 5p coins I then corrected her on this, she then threw down 6 x 5p coins on the counter. In all my time using this shop I have never experienced such shocking customer service. I was absolutely gobsmacked with her aggressive tone. I spend a lot of money in M&S, but regardless of this, no one should endure such behaviour for a simple return request. This lady clearly needs to be provided training in her customer service skills. A complete let down to the rest of the team in the shop, and a totally awful representation of the brand. I used to work for M&S for several years and never witnessed any colleague behaving like this.

    The opening times are quite good, however the staff are so unfriendly and rather weird. They constantly just gawp at you if you make polite eye contact. Nothing compared to the fantastic Customer Service at the nearby Waitrose store.
