I had a very unpleasant experience at this Tesco on Sep 30, 2025. Around 9:15pm, I went to buy alcohol but did not have my ID with me. A female staff member asked me, β€œIs this your first time buying alcohol in the UK?” β€” a question that felt irrelevant, unnecessary, and condescending. I went home to get my ID and returned around 10:15pm. When I came back with my valid passport, the same staff member was extremely rude. Instead of checking my ID properly, she told me to β€œopen your passport” in a dismissive way. Later, when her manager arrived, she even changed her story and told the manager that she had only asked me whether it was my first time buying alcohol at this Tesco, which was simply not true. I fully understand Tesco’s policy of requiring original IDs (no photocopies or photos), and I completely respect that rule. However, what I cannot accept is the rude, unprofessional attitude and the way this staff member treated me compared to other customers. It made me feel as though I was being unfairly targeted, possibly because of my background. This was one of the most humiliating shopping experiences I have had in the UK. I strongly hope Tesco will take this matter seriously and ensure all staff treat every customer with respect and consistency.

Dear Tesco Customer Service, I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding the conduct of a manager at your Kings cross branch, named Minhaj. On [insert date/time], I attempted to purchase alcohol and provided valid, legally acceptable photo identification. Despite this, Minhaj declined to serve me. I found this decision unreasonable and inconsistent with Tesco’s own policies, as my ID fully met the legal requirements for the purchase of alcohol. Not only was the refusal frustrating and inconvenient, but Minhaj’s manner came across as dismissive and unprofessional. As a regular Tesco customer, I expect staff – especially managers – to exercise fairness, good judgment, and courtesy in these situations. I request that this incident be investigated, that I receive an explanation as to why my valid ID was rejected, and that Tesco ensures staff are appropriately trained to avoid this happening again. I look forward to your response. Yours sincerely, Alexie Warwick

Nice store where you can grab small snacks and do your grocery shopping. Coffee machine is not working for a while now.

I'm a local resident who has shopped at this Tesco since it opened. It was abysmal then and even worse now. The non existent management have always been appalling, it's not possible that actual recruitment takes place because the people that work here are horrendous. I've formally complained in the past about in store staff conduct, fridge conditions etc but nothing changed. No one at Tesco or this store actually cares. Prices are constantly wrong at the point of purchase than what sticker prices advertise. I've literally stopped shopping here for this very reason and also the ridiculously inflated prices! The last time I shopped in this store around mid 2023, customers were literally shopping in the dark as there was an issue with the lights. Despite this Tesco kept the store open regardless! Fridges are constantly broken and goods are off before the best before date but still available for sale! Many times I've experienced food that has gone off at home well before it should including milk which is so expensive at this store. Apart from needing the odd item in an emergency I avoid this store at all cost. Again today prices were wrong at the self check out. The attendant didn't do anything and just gave me the option not to purchase the item. I asked someone else to go and check while I'm still standing at the self checkout who then asked someone else to do so but he just walked off and never came back with my item. I had no choice but to go and find out what happened and found that he threw my item back on the shelf!!! Literally zero customer service. If you really have no choice and shop here you need to triple check prices, what you've been charged and your receipts, and then pray your food isn't off by the time you consume it. Update: January 2024 Online it showed the discounted club card pricing on various items. In-store for example milk was still full price. All other online clubcard offers were given in store apart from the milk. I questioned this at customer services. Some guy who didn't know what he was talking about said that they don't implement online club card prices in that store!! This is the kind of idiot you'll deal with despite countless items showing clubcard pricing! A week later I saw that they implemented the club card pricing on the milk. It's either lies, or they pick and choose what products to implement clubcard pricing to and when or it's just a case of they can't be bothered. Nothing ever changes! Photo shows an example of completely ridiculous pricing!

They display discounts on the shelves but don’t update the cash tills. Correcting overcharges wastes a huge amount of time. This has happened to me repeatedly.

By far the slowest customer service in King's cross, I've never seen a place struggle so much when handling a few shopping items at the till. Its take literally 4 times as long as anywhere else. The self checkout machines are also terrible at scanning items, perhaps the sensors need a good clean. Sainsbury's which is 1min away is a much better experience for getting work lunch as you dont waste a 1/4 of it waiting in line

The female black staff was very rude and ignoring without any patience or manners. During the past year Lots of previously displayed good products are missing from shelves and not available any more at this shop. The rudest staff of retail business in kings cross area.

Overall does the job. Seems like a well-run Tesco store as the shelves are normally well-stocked and are presented well. The Β£3 meal deal is a great option for getting some tasty affordable lunch.

As my nearest grocery shop I’ve always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The lady who looks after the flowers and plants is really lovely and will go out of her way to find the customer what they need. Very convenient, well stocked with a friendly β€˜local’ vibe.
