For starters this is NOT a 4 star hotel - I wouldn’t even give it 1 star! Booked a deluxe double and a single room. Originally given key to one double room only to be told shortly afterwards that we were in wrong room after we had unpacked and were having a relaxing cup of tea. Second room appeared ok at first glance but on closer inspection we found wash hand basin partially blocked causing sewage smell in bathroom, shampoo and body wash containers in shower were both broken, heated towel rail not working nor was the extractor fan. Told maintenance man had left but would see to drain the next day if we reminded reception at breakfast. Tried to do this but reception not manned! Single room more like a small box room definitely not as shown on their website but a complaint was met with a shrug of the shoulders and ‘well that’s a single room for you’. Breakfast - hot food only luke warm as burners had not been lit beneath the containers. Continental choice very basic and limited. Only young friendly staff with no one in obvious charge. After a day in Chester we returned to find drain had been sorted but neither the double nor the single rooms had been serviced. Following another trip to reception, towels and small shampoo bottles were provided but we had to make our own beds and put up with waste bins not emptied! Apparently according to one employee this was very unusual but we found this hard to believe when both rooms we booked had been left unserviced! One I could understand being an error but not both when they were several minutes walk away from each other. Nothing done about the towel rail or extractor fan. Breakfast next day was slightly better as burners had been lit but still quite a limited choice all round. And still an unmanned reception even though it was advertised as having 24 hour manned reception! On top of all this the corridors had not been vacuumed at all as paper that was there when arrived was still there when we left 2 days later and the bannisters had cobwebs between the spindles. Overall a really very expensive (£766), disappointing stay especially as it was to congratulate our granddaughter on graduating from university. Obviously extremely bad management of the hotel itself but even the Macdonalds Head Office haven’t had the decency to reply to our complaint requesting a partial refund made by both letter and email. This company should stop advertising and accept it is going out of business before it takes money from unaware guests. I only wish I had read the reviews before I booked and I would have stayed well away from The New Blossoms Hotel in Chester. I only hope this review will help stop others from wasting their money! I notice they haven’t even got the decency to respond to any of the really bad reviews left for them - does that say it all?

Very tired hotel. Needs upgrading. The room wasnt very nice, there was a view of the roof and vents, water marks on the walls in the room. Our toilet wouldn't flush and when we complained they said they would send someone up. We got back late still not working and there was nothing that could be done. So they gave us a bucket to flush the toilet. Breakfast was ok and the staff were friendly. But I wouldnt stay here again.

Great location but let down by everything else. Light bulbs missing in room. Soap dispensers broken and not working. Rooms have a distinct lack of plug sockets. Sound proofing poor having what sounded like an elephant upstairs clumping around. Bar not stocked and no wine available. How ridiculous. Breakfast. Had to have a scheduled time then kept waiting for 40 mins plus. Coffee absolutely disgusting, undrinkable. We stayed here as a stop off on the way back from Scotland.

Stayed serveral times over the years with pleasing results. Following a stay in September (for partners birthday) was pleasant initially but following our return from an evening meal was greeted by the night manager who would not ALLOW us to take wine glasses and a half pint glass to our room, accussing us of stealing (as if, for the price). He was extremely rude and pushing the wine cooler and ice into my chest was very insulting. This night manager needs extreme training. We have complained through their website and Resolver but no one has ever got back to us. WE WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN.

Location is great however the hotel is a little tired and needs updating! We couldn't switch our heating off so was a little warm to sleep. Our kettle and tea making was hidden away in the wardrobe and no USB charger points plus our toilet paper wasn't replaced even though we asked for the room to be serviced! breakfast was ok but the plates needed to be cleared away as 5 tables still had plates on a little short staffed in the morning however the staff were friendly and helpful! A friend brought us a weekend break through buy a gift we were going to add an extra night but over £200 a night wasn't worth it in my opinion! Our room was spacious was a good point.

It's in the centre of Chester. What more can you ask for! I don't understand why it's got the rating it has. Every encounter we had with the staff, during our 2 night stay, was professional and friendly. It's an old building and that adds to its charm. As for other comments about it being loud outside. It's the city centre. Everywhere was clean and tidy. I would definitely come again.

Lovely, cosey room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed at room 204. Shower really powerful and relaxing. Good TV and stand. Room very warm which was great but heating switch was broken when arrived so couldn't turn it down. The only issue.

The location and main area of the hotel was nice. What really frustrated me is. I’ve been trying to call the hotel for over an hour to find the best place to park. We finally found a place to park temporarily while I ran into the hotel and whilst I was in the lobby, I started ringing reception as nobody was there and I just wanted to see if I was being ignored like probably a lot of other people or whether or not they’re really busy so whilst I’m standing by the door looking directly at reception ringing the phone yet again was left and answered when I approached the desk and said go to you must be really busy I’ve been trying to ring you for over an hour. The receptionist said yes, the phones been ringing off the hook to which point, I said I know I’ve stood in the lobby ringing you to see if you’re ignoring the phone or not The room was nice, better little bit uncomfortable , it really shocked me to find in the morning unfortunately that the mattresses had lots of different stains yellow stains all over it. As much as this is a convenient hotel for the location. I think improvements need to be made and customer service improved.

Staff at reception were charming and helpful . Room was lovely, however the heating was not working. We informed reception and they immediately sent up an electrical heater. Breakfast was tasty and the service was excellent.

The service was great when we checked in and when we had drinks in the evening in the bar. The staff were great, but at breakfast the next day there were hardly any staff we had to wait to just sit down, it seems staff would call in sick as it was a Sunday morning. All they need to do is let people sit themselves down for continental and then take room numbers when hot food is ordered.
