   One must, with some satisfaction, report a standard of attentiveness that verges on the superlative. The staff distinguish themselves not merely through competence, but through a profoundly conscientious and solicitous disposition. Their interventions are characterised by a quiet efficiency and a manner that is both respectful and genuinely kind. The sustenance provided, so often a dreary hallmark of institutional settings, proved to be a most agreeable surprise. The cuisine was remarkably palatable and thoughtfully prepared, exhibiting a standard one might credibly describe as elevated. Furthermore, the provision of choice in matters of menu was noted with appreciation, as was the continuous, almost intuitive, service regarding refreshments. The quotidian offerings of tea, coffee, and light provisions were not merely available, but were presented with an ongoing and anticipatory solicitude—one was never asked if one required more, but rather when one might desire the next cup. In summation, the experience transcended the clinical. It was a model of personalised, dignified care, where the human element remained commendably paramount, and the creature comforts were administered with both grace and consistency. Quite excellent.

   Appalling hospital. Staff are incredibly rude, and whilst I understand they may be under pressure, there’s no need for passive aggressiveness! 6 hour wait!! My father had to get stitches which was done by a student nurse who was rude and messed up the stitches and almost caused an infection. Of course I understand the need to train students and perhaps she was stressed. But I also don’t understand why they use patients without their consent for such procedures. My mother regularly goes to this hospital and communication is terrible; most nurses are nice though so perhaps it’s an A&E thing. I’d much rather go private than go to this hospital. I know the awfully long A&E waits are a national problem but seriously!! Edit: he ended up getting an infection…. And they called him about it 3 weeks later!

   I collapsed with a cardiac arrest in the middle of the empty countryside in May '25 and if it wasn't for the combined miracles of two cyclists (one knew CPR) coming across me, the paramedics who attended and the stunning work of the specialists at Darent Hospital emergency/cardiac facility...I wouldn't be alive now, writing this review...in tears. I owe them all my life.

   Got referred to A&E after call to nhs 111, arrived A&E at 7am, been through triage and bloods but didn’t get seen till 12, finally got seen by consultant at 4 just to open up my cast for one minute and close it back without solving the problem. Explaining since my surgery was not done at this hospital they shouldn’t deal with anything, but I had a spreading allergic reaction rash and severe itchiness hence the visit, consultant checked its not infected, replaced the gauze and close it back up and discharge me. My original purpose of visit of itchiness and rash was not managed and been told if it spread even more to come back… Toilets at then A&E waiting area smell terrible as well can even smell it at the waiting areas.

   Apparently the values of DVH are care with compassion, striving to excel, respect and dignity, professional standards and working together and the letter that I received today that has postponed my 'urgent' appointment from just a 6 month wait to a 13 month wait states professional care, exceptional quality. Unfortunately in my case you have managed to fail on all of those. Such a shame because in the past I have had really good experiences with this hospital but currently something with their system in some (not all) of their departments is seriously failing.

   My brother was admitted to this hospital via A&E A few weeks ago it was excellent. They took blood test x-ray within 35 minutes. It was put onto oxygen he had pneumonia sepsis, low blood pressure. The nurses in the doctors were fantastic. He was in hospital for eight days recovered and came out a few days ago. Thank you to all the doctors and the nurses that took care of him without them, he would’ve died

   Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to access any services other than A&E as of late so all of the pressure falls on to the hospitals. I had to bring my son here as a last resort and they were amazing. Very thorough and friendly and didn't fall short of providing the care my son needed, regardless of the almighty challenges they face. Very grateful to have this service and thank you for everything you do.

   If your child is sick highly recommend. Pediatrics will have brain storm before they will start treatment. Of course always you will find black sheep so keep your eyes wide open. Children's ward very well prepared for little ones. Outdoor playground, playroom, corridors with toys, nursr will prepare toys for your child and will bring to bed, also coming therapeutic dogs to comfort your child. Parents room with tea and coffee. They will give you spare nappy if you don't have. Bathroom painted with ocean animals, will give you towels. Food wise you will get breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2 times a day snacks.

   My mother was taken into A&E back in September and compared to her last episode a couple of years ago, this experience was a massive improvement which was good to see. The check in process was fairly short (1 hour to be seen by the doctor) and the attending doctor was absolutely brilliant - she kept us appraised of the sequence of events and a timeline and stuck to those times. There were updates every 20 minutes which just never happened before. The nurses and staff were all very helpful and professional despite what must be punishing schedules. The only negative was having to spend the majority of time waiting in a hallway but at least it was clean and tidy. The whole process from arrival to discharge was around 4-5 hours and at no time did we feel abandoned or have to chase up anyone. They have clearly upped their game and fingers crossed it continues.

   I had endoscopy done today by Nurse lead clinician.All the staff there were most helpful and oblidgeing . The endoscopy nurses were very professional, courteous and informed me of the procedure in detailed. I was most impressed by their skill and knowledge and precision in carrying out the task. The nurses took great care to allay any anxiety I may have and reassuring me throughout the endoscopy step by step until the procedure is completed. They also explained to me the result in user friendly language. They have advised me on diet and lifestyle issues. My wife who was waiting in reception were given cups of tea and biscuits! What more can one ask,such excellent care and service! Great NHS and all the staff are WORTH IT! Thank you once again from a most grateful patient! Mark Lee 9 Nov.2022.
