It's a great place for walking dogs or just a nice stroll. Open to the weather, so pick the right day. We tend to do a 1.5-hour walk, but you can carry on much further on the trans pennine if you like
Only a small park but good for dog walks. Some if the paths can get muddy in wet weather. You can join the transpennine path and walk up to the jubilee Bridge and Spike Island. Free car park. A cafe is currently under construction, due to open early 2026.
We visited here first many years ago either as a walking group or to collect slows for slow gin !! It only has a small free car park and is soon to have a visitors centre and cafe which is currently being built, it is part of a coastal path which one way takes you to Widnes and the other way towards Hale, views of the Runcorn bridge and the Runcorn chemical works on a good day are brilliant.
Lovely place for a nice walk along the estuary, very windy though, nice little places to spot a bit of wildlife, there's a car park with tables & benches for picnics etc (we had a chippy lunch) also while walking along there's benches for people to sit & enjoy the views.
This was a return after many years, it was so nice to see the grasses swaying in the wind, with so many wild flowers in bloom. We took advantage of the many seats, and thoroughly enjoyed the warmth of the sun, whilst watching the planes on their final approach to the airport.
Pickering Pastures is one of my favourite places to visit with views of the Jubilee bridge and the Mersey gateway. The path is tarmac and small gravel if you cycle it's fine. There are about 6 flights of stairs and a bridge over Ditton Brook you will need to carry your this up and down and it's not wheelchair accessible. You get wonderful views of Runcorn over the Mersey River and on a sunny day its perfect. If you've never been its a must there is a car park and many dog walking routes.
Like to chill here in the mornings with my brew watching the sunrise before heading off to work even if it's raining it's nice to just look out.
Really nice place for a walk. It's great to be up close to the Mersey and see how fast the water goes up or down. The path was well kept and a nice long walk with great views!
Lots of wild life to be seen across the Mersey estuary and a brisk scenic walk through meadow paths a must. Industrial views and the iconic jubilee bridge and railway bridge can also be seen...rangers hut viewing hide free parking and dog walking . plenty of wildfowl and fresh air to enjoy.
A local beauty spot fantastic for bird watching and dog walking or just taking in some air. It is wheelchair accessible it is well paved although there are a couple of steep slopes. Run entirely by volunteers. Picnic area with tables.
