We had the pleasure of visiting after our 5 mile hike. They were very accommodating in reserving a table in the bar area for us and our dog. The food was delicious fish and chips and the sticky toffee I would recommend. The bar and waitresses were lovely and so attentive. The only moan was the manager was super stressed when we arrived and said we needed to order in the next 2 minutes as they are closing the kitchen, he never came back to take our order and multiple tables ordered after us so was very confused…he was charging around the pub the rest of the time we were there…We will definitely be back though!!

Parking is a problem. We got lucky. The staff are delightful & so is the food. I've never had such crispy skin on salmon before, nor such scrumpy olives. Very busy so booking recommended. We will be back!

Been meaning to go to this fairly local old pub for a Sunday roast for a long time and finally made it. Would have got five stars for the service and the quality of their food if It wasn't for the pitiful portions of vegetables, half a roast carrot, one skinny roast parsnip and a tablespoon of cabbage. Why o why do places skimp on vegetables when it's the cheapest thing on the plate?!

A wonderful evening spent in good company. A warm welcome and relaxed drink by the fireside before being shown to our table. Amazing food with service to match. Everyone we came in contact with were polite, professional and in good spirits. Cannot praise highly enough. Looking forward to returning soon.

Great countryside gastropub with plenty of seating and food options. It was busy for Sunday afternoon so I'm guessing the food must be good. Service was nice with a smile and attentive. Did friendly and situated about halfway at Box Hill trail. Brilliant.

After walking a very muddy stepping stones walk at Box Hill we were told about this pub by the National Trust lady. We arrived after the kitchen had closed so asked if there was anywhere else local to get food. A quick word with the chef and 5 of us were quickly seated and we enjoyed a well earned meal and rest. Food was really enjoyable and staff quick and friendly , I'd say the friendliest local I've ever been in.

This is a lovely cosy village pub serving pretty good food. The staff were really nice and friendly. One very small comment. The mixed fried seafood starter for Β£12 is honestly CRIMINAL. Whoever put that on the menu, for that price, should go directly to jail.

Beautiful pub in the countryside, would highly recommend. The scotch egg was one of the best I’ve ever had. Fish & chips was flawless. Sticky toffee pudding second to none! CrΓ¨me caramel on the other hand was a let down - potential error in the recipe, but did not detract from the overall experience!

This is a fab place to stop after or during a walk around Box Hill. There is plenty of seating inside and out. I loved the decoration inside; it is clearly an old pub but they have modernized it in such a way that they have kept the old furniture and decor, whilst making it comfortable and fashionable. One of the best decorated pubs I have visited. The drinks we bought were quite expensive, particularly because they were non-alcoholic. Because of this I probably wouldn't eat here due to the price but I like how accessible it is for the walks..
