We came to the Kings Arms hotel to celebrate a birthday with a meal. There were 8 of us. Everything started off well - warm greeting and seated immediately. Our waiter was lovely. We ordered our food, waited then were told some of the food was not available. We re-ordered and were served after abit of a wait. The food quality was awful, 5 of the 8 of us did not finish our dish. I have eaten here before but this time it was well below par and unsatisfactory. As it was a celebration we decided to have dessert. We placed our orders, waited and then were told that we couldn't have dessert as the chef had decided to go home!! This was at 21.20pm. The restaurant was supposed to close at 10pm. There was a lovely elderly man sat next to us whose experience was the same. I believe he ended up with a cheese sandwich after sending his burger back 3 times. It was an awful experience, especially considering it was for a birthday. The only saving grace was the wonderful waiter. The tip we left him reflected his service. I made the choice to leave this public review as I emailed you directly but nobody bothered to respond. May I suggest that you notify customers which food items are unavailable and that your chef ensures that all customers are fed before clocking off!

had an excellent experience at the Kings Arms Hotel. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, the service is professional and attentive, and the location is ideal for both business and leisure stays. The atmosphere blends historic charm with modern comfort, creating a truly welcoming environment. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

Most of the rooms are not in the pub but an adjacent building which is a lot different design and feeling from the pub. 2-star rooms, and the breakfast didn’t save it either. We waited 45 min on a somewhat underperforming Full English. The bar however is super cool with a fire place and staff is super friendly. But I would give hotel max 3 stars.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The staff were welcoming and kind, the food was great. Our dog was offered a treat and some water, she’d never been so relaxed in a public setting. Thank you so much, we hope to come back again :)

We stayed for three nights and loved the hotel and the pub. Amazing location and beautiful building. Good food at the pub. Very friendly and helpful staff. Really recommend it! Great place from which to do walks in this beautiful region.

Beautiful hotel, staff very friendly and welcoming, sat by the gorgeous huge fire drinking fizz, perfect x Only setback we needed an extra heater as the room wasn't very warm

We were told we couldn't use restaurant as a private function was taking place, but when we went in to bar, they were serving food to some people. No pre warning of this. No car parking due to wedding. No pre warning of this. Had to walk our breakfast from one building to another, outside as dining room full. Staff were not the most helpful. Considering we paid Β£150 for 1 night I would have expected better.

Went for a midweek lunch with family for a special occasion. Very disappointed. Service was so slow and unapologetic. Food didn't arrive despite ordering before other tables with food. When starters finally came, key ingredients advertised on the menu were missing. My son was crying the food took so long. Waiting staff were totally clueless. Massively regret choosing to go here given the excellent choice in the area. Gave up on mains after an hour of waiting. Avoid.
