After my stay here I would 100% recommend this boutique hotel to anyone, perfect location, rooms are absolutely stunning and spotless with very friendly staff. My room had a beautiful shabby chic but yet modern design with a free standing bath and en-suite - simply wow. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you to the landlord who made sure everything was spot on for our stay.

Loved my stay there, the landlord was extremely friendly, the location was perfectly situated in the charming high street, and very happy with the boutique style room. Most importantly a comfy bed.

Now the room was lovely a beautiful tub in the room that was so relaxing to use . The bed was comfy the coffee machine in the room was a nice touch. A fantastic fan in the wardrobe. Stayed here while we was attending my friends wedding nearby. Peter was delightful when we checked in . When we returned at the end of the night we had to battle past three drunken dingbats who was for some reason trying to take the orchids out of my hands that I was carrying. After "politely" dealing with that we went up to our room, now it's a pub so we expected noise which there was a plenty but we fell asleep regardless only to be woken up abruptly just gone midnight to a siren in the room (fire alarm) quickly got dressed and other guest and us where in the hall only to find two drunken fools fiddling with the control box at the bottom of the stairs shouting at guests "you're smoking in the room" There was noone smoking in any of the rooms we was all woken up by this nonsense...tried to call Peter on the number he gave us to which there was no answer. Eventually it went off....I believe one of the Berks had set it off by the fire door or maybe just that control unit but it was definitely not any of the guests upstairs. Then as the pub was emptying there was a brawl outside which had several guys all playing who's got the biggest stick and a shrieking girl who honestly needed throttling....turns out the staff were out there doing sod all about it. Went on for over an hour. Then had the two guys out the front rambling on loudly about Egypt and aliens until about 1.30. Such a shame as the room is such a snug lovely little gem .if only it wasn't attached to such an awful pub.

I stayed two nights. The first being a Saturday... the music downstairs was so loud that the floor of my room was vibrating. No possibility of reading, sleeping or even hearing the TV until after midnight. Sunday night was much better but on my return to the pub, the back gate, which is supposed to be left open was locked. I had to eat my takeaway outside and ring the landlord. He turned out to be just next door and came to open up but with no apology or explanation. Bizarrely, he then went over the road to the Indian restaurant and I could see him pointing me out to the staff there as they gawped at me. Ideally I wouldn't have been eating outside at all. The room was small and the decor gaudy. This isn't really a 4-star hotel, it's not even a hotel. It's a pub and probably a decent pub. I wouldn't recommend staying especially not on a Saturday night.

We arrived at no 64 on a Friday for 2 nights for our daughter’s wedding on Saturday. We were in Olivia. Our room is described as ‘superior’ and in a ‘shabby chic’ style. Well, that was half right. The curtains were ripped, the wardrobe door didn’t shut, one bedside light switch was sealed up in insulating tape but best was the large chunk of marble missing from the ‘french antique’ dresser and a crack right through it. The coffee machine only had ‘Americano’ pods and there was no decaffeinated coffee (the cleaner confirmed they don’t even stock it.) The room fronted the high street but there was no frosted glass in the shower room, or blinds in the bedroom so we had to have the shutters closed when we were getting ready. We were woken at 6am on the morning of the wedding by the beer delivery to the pub, closely followed at 7am by the Tesco van delivering across the street. When we arrived back that night at 12.30, shattered from the day, we were kept awake by the noisy music in the pub which went on until 1.30 am, Sunday. You can imagine the joy then of being woken at 7am by another Tesco delivery. There is no mention on the site that no 64 is on a busy and noisy street (even Travelodges at £50 a night warn you of potential disturbance) and there was no secondary or double glazing to try and alleviate the sound (though music in the pub that late would still have been unacceptable). We told the male manager on Saturday about the lamp, dresser and coffee. Apparently, customers were responsible for taping up the light (which he knew nothing about), but when we pointed out that the switch had proper electrical tape on it, his story changed to it being the cleaners who did it. We’d have thought most would report a fault to the manager ….and he also said that customers had broken the marble. Interestingly, his wife Sharon later said the dresser was bought in that state deliberately as, quote, ‘a perfectly imperfect’ part of the décor. Funny how there’s no mention or pictures of this on the website and that this is at variance to her husband’s story. Anyway, the coffee and switch were fixed during the day (whilst we were out) but obviously the room had not been up to the standard we expected for £140 a night and we could have done without disturbed sleep on top. So, stay here at your peril. You’ll pay over the odds for a substandard room, be lied to, get very little sleep and will have quite the rudest pair of individuals to deal with when you try to negotiate some recompense. They are clearly publicans who have no idea how to run a quality boutique hotel. Enjoy!!

Lovely boutique hotel over a very small but nice, friendly pub. The rooms are very comfortable and had a super breakfast

Lovely cosy pub, with great rooms and quiet to get a good night's sleep after closing hours.
