   A great store and excellent service and advice. We purchased two hamsters and the young lady called Robyn was so helpful and informative. She even helped us carry the large cage out to our car. Hamster's Keith and Kevin are now part of our family! Highly recommended

   I love popping into Pets at Home Merry Hill, people wondering around with their furries, always happy to have a chat. The staff are lovely and knowledgeable, always happy to give good honest advice when you need it. Not the cheapest but they have decent offers and everything you need to give your pets the things they need to keep them happy healthy and of course just a little bit spoiled.

   I purchased a dog chew toy for £24.00, gave it to our Cavapoo, and it disintegrated within minutes. I fully appreciate that chew toys aren’t indestructible, but five minutes of use is completely unacceptable for a product at this price point. When I raised the issue with Pets at Home, I was told that “dog chew toys have a limited life.” Limited life?? That doesn’t justify a £24 toy falling apart almost instantly. I was told to contact the manufacturer if I felt the toy was of poor quality. The response I received felt dismissive and showed no willingness to resolve the issue. Overall, this has been one of the poorest customer service experiences I’ve had. I expected far better from a company of this size.

   Always big queues, and only 1 person on the till who is always very slow service. Everything is also very overpriced apart from their own brand goods which is sub par quality across the board. Only reason I would come is to buy one of the pets. If you value your time avoid this place!

   I don’t want to give them any star, there’s horrible after sale service. After you pay, they are never care, they told me they’re just in the middle without responsibility. I brought a bag of puppy food, it’s making my puppy diarrhea with blood, we been to vets 3 times. I bring the more than half of the puppy food with me to talk to refund, Bcs it’s unreasonable to pay anything make my puppy sick. They don’t do anything, and let me to contact the brand myself. It’s a very bad service. Let me feel if I eat something wrong in the restaurant, the restaurant ask me to contact the farmers.

   - REPTILE OWNERS DO NOT BOTHER - The reptile bulb rack is usually half empty but I occasionally manage to get the bulb I need from here, so I buy a few. I pay cash and didn't ask for a receipt. I have had cracked bulbs as well as bulbs used in the box completely burnt out. I have had to bin them and take a loss here. The frozen rodents are absolutely repulsive, emanating pungent, foul smells when defrosted. I have since switched suppliers to a small independent pet shop that specialises in reptiles to be able to source the products I need for my beloved pets, and their products are also cheaper! Pets at Home is made to look good from the outside by having visually appealing layouts, and sometimes, staff that are experienced with animals. However, it would be in their best interest to employ people with knowledge of warehousing, returns & stock control, and to actually stock the products advertised on the shelves. If you want an overpriced bag of dog food on the same day (queuing times at the till are a joke, even with three staff members on and barely anyone in the queue), maybe this is the place for you. If it's reptile products you're looking for... Look elsewhere or regret your decision. You're welcome!
