Cheap tickets, lovely staff, and a massive venue. Overall, a really great experience; will be going again!

Thank you so much to Jay and Cat!! They carried my 40 kg powerchair up and down the stairs themselves so I could watch the movie in it without me even asking and were so kind and professional about it. Truly went way above and beyond for me and I'm so appreciative. The Genesis have a device that can carry someone up the stairs as well, and ground floor theaters are accessible via ramp. I looooove the couch seating in the little rooms, so so comfortable and nice. Truly independent cinema that has done an impressive job making an old building as accessible as possible and staff clearly also value this :) I didnt use the restroom while I was there so cant comment if the toilets are truly accessible

THE MANAGER IS UNHINGED. Just had a horrendous experience, not just in a cinema but in general. We were waiting to get photos next to a small backdrop before the european short awards. This concerning maniac comes through and says we have to move for Health and Safety( the irony as we didnt feel safe with him about) the photographers asked him to speak to the organiser as there was obviously some confusion He was very aggressive in response, he started shouting at us.. the audience. He stormed off slamming open a door as he said 'you know what, it doesn't matter'. We stood in confusion as a crowd slowly making our way into the cinema. He then came back more aggressive and furious as ever. Said the awards was going going to be cancelled. One audience member stood up to him (which I have huge respect for) and he was thrown out. I have since seen in another review the cinema said he was thrown out for aggressive behaviour and they don't tolerate it. I was there and I can safely say this response actually endorses aggressive behaviour from their manager at their venue. An absolute caotic and disturbing experience all caused by an unhinged person who evidently has heard the sound of his own voice for long enough. I dont think it's a coincidence that this aggression has been mentioned numerous times in the other reviews.!!!!!!!!!! Oh and I took a photo of the area that he had a hissy fit that we blocked when queuing as there were 150 at the awards I was told. Just so happens to be the area for buying the snacks...which blocks the area he said had to be free for safety. All in all he is a bully.

Came here for a premiere. The cinema is delightful and feels like a classic old school movie house. I might not go back for a long time simply due to distance, but I'd sure like to...

I attended a screening and Q&A session here on Saturday 10th May, hosted by Kush Films. This is the first time I've been into a Genesis Cinema and I loved the decor, layout and how welcoming the atmosphere was. Nice and spacious open plan layout and vibrant atmosphere. I like that there is a nice bar upstairs which serves an array of drinks and there also appears to be a nice food menu. I enjoyed my experience here and hope to come back again to see another film.

What a great hidden gem. This cinema has so much history, life and thoughtfully decorated with tasteful art, lighting and classic furniture. Each theatre has its own unique character - few of the theatres have comfy couches with bar service so you can kick back watch a film and drink your favourite cocktail. Great spot to host events on all scales. Must check out when in London to watch a film, host an event or have a coffee & work in their main lobby. Family owned. Support local businesses.

Amazing independent cinema with loads of events and great prices! We go there almost every week!

I was there for the 1st Hong Kong Film Festival UK, and I am delightfully surprised by the size and interior of this cinema. Not only it is way bigger than I expected, there were food stalls, and nice spaces for display or exhibition purposes. I was also told Theater 1(the one I was in) sits over 350 people, and it looks and feels very spacious and comfortable.

Great, low-key cinema in East London. Good selection of films, cheap ticket prices with plenty of lovely but, expensive treats including freshly made popcorn from an old school popcorn machine and a great Pik N Mix. The building is classically decorated and has an art deco feel to it, the chairs are comfy but low/deep so kids (or maybe even you) will likely need a cushion (there are plenty at the back stacked up in each screen). The screens are not the biggest but are ok and the sound system is basic but effective and loud enough. The staff are friendly and helpful. All in all a good, low-key (still busy though) and traditional cinema not far from Shoreditch to go see a film. Would recommend checking out if you want somewhere more classic and less commercial with a light arty feel in East London.

My new favourite cinema in London. I visited today to watch The Many Saints of Newark (Sopranos Film). It has a cozy vibe, good screen size, comfy seating, wide selection of snacks and staff are very friendly. Tickets are £5.50 from Monday to Thursday and £10.50 from Friday to Sunday (peak hours). Highly recommend. Will be visiting again soon.
