An absolute joy to watch great docs here on my days off
I love this place! Quite the hidden gem. It’s the only documentary cinema in the UK and screens a wide variety of documentaries so there’s something for everyone and often very thought-provoking subject matter. And a great bonus is that they often have director Q&As. Sign up to their newsletter!
A very reliable source to go to for screening amazing and entertaining docs. There's always something refreshing and interesting screening. Above all, it feels good knowing my money is supporting a heavily underfunded industry, unlike massive budget mainstream movies. Just go to Peckham Plex for those ;) I hope more of these pop up around the country/world, documentaries have a great potential for delivering repetitively amazing stories to your comfy seat.
Bertha DocHouse is a cinema in a whole complex containing restaurants, lounges, pubs and shopping centre. The Cinema was quite big, with some lights that made it a nice cinema experience. I liked!
What an incredible place! Such a lovely spot to see compelling documentaries while sipping a tasty beverage in comfy seats. As soon as I finish this review, I’ll be starting a membership, because we will absolutely be back again and again
I joined the Curzon because of the Bertha Dochouse and I love it. Get to see as many documentaries as I can. Wonderful selection of films and the cinema and surroundings are perfect. Curzon have just opened five new screens in Camden and I hope that the Dochouse will consider screening some of their films there. Perfect area for their audience. Here's hoping.
The Bertha Doc House is one of my favourite things about London. I always come out of the cinema feeling inspired and invigorated by their expertly curated documentaries - and always learn something new. During the COVID-19 pandemic the team have put an amazing amount of effort into providing online content, much of it free and many with Q&As from Directors, Producers and others. In a time where it is easy to feel devoid of culture and new things like the present the team behind the Doc House have really given me and so many others something so important. I cannot wait to return in person when it is safe to do so.
Love the DocHouse and that it exists. Great films, comfy chairs. Only downside is that the screens aren't bigger so popular screenings sell out quick. During the pandemic they have put on an amazing range of online viewings and still foster the doc community in a positive way (also thanks to their whatsapp group).
I am not a documentary film buff, but I really enjoy watching them - so over the last few years Bertha DocHouse has become my place for discovery! During lockdown particularly the programming has been so good, with lots of Q&As as well as films, and they’ve been so inventive at making it a lively community. I’d recommend joining the WhatsApp group for their recommendations and to get updates on what’s on.
