Purchased a starter motor from Gawiths Liverpool on 16/11 for a customer at our garage, the customer returned the following day stating the starter motor had an intermittent fault on it and he had replaced it at another taxi repair location.The customer returned the faulty part for a refund from ourselves. We contacted Gawiths to explain the situation only to be told to return three days later when the manager was in. On returning three days later the same gentleman Richard told me that there was a no refund policy and we would have to wait weeks for the starter to be tested for a refund. The parts invoice does not state this policy nor did the parts man mention this at the point of sale. On further discussions with the parts man he made me aware of a notice on the corner of the counter partially obscured by the coffee machine stating that they don’t take electrical goods back for credit. We were offered a credit note for use in the location but as we are not a taxi repair outlet this would be worthless. I understood that Under the Consumer of Goods act 2019 a customer can return a faulty product within 30 days and request a refund or repair or replacement. Clearly as the taxi has been now out for over a week now with the replacement part fitted the original part fitted is faulty. We as a fellow garage repairer are totally disgusted at the returns policy which is not told to customers at the point of sale and out of pocket for the cost of a faulty part which has been fitted for one day.
