It pays to shop around if selling gold & not accept 1st offer. They offered me £180 for a 2nd hand gold Longines watch strap, an hour later I got £530 for it, in cash, from a shop in Leeds market.
Can’t fault the service at Yorkshire Jewellers. Lots of choice and plenty of non-mainstream options. No pressure and they made some great suggestions. Ring resizing was also fast and high quality.
I purchased a beautiful solitaire diamond engagement ring from these folks towards the end of last year. Oliver in particular was great with me, answering any questions I had about the ring. My partner and I have now decided to use the diamond to create a bigger piece for the wedding. Yorkshire Jewellery Ltd very kindly took back the band/mount and provided us with some credit which has gone a long way. Top personal service, clear communication, reliable staff and great jewellery. Amazing customer service. I received a pendant as a gift but unfortunately within the year the stone fell out. I contacted the customer service team and they were amazing. They found the order details even when I couldn't (because it was a gift) and offered to fix it for free.
Had to replace a ring for my deceased wife which was stolen in a NHS hospital. The staff were helpful, pointed out the possible rings and were very understanding. Got a beautiful replacement a near match to her stolen ring, which I have now passed on to her daughter.
I bought an engagement ring over a year ago, at the point of sale the manager advised me that if for whatever reason I needed to return the ring it would be fine anytime as long as it is unworn but would subject to a small restocking fee. This turned out to be untrue. Despite having a sign on the door saying they buy jewellery, the shop assistant told me their policy is that they don't buy back their own stock. After expressing my dissatisfaction with this the manager eventually agreed to buy the ring back at less than half what they sold it to me for. I had previously received 6 independent valuations of the ring before trying to return it to YJ all ranging between 2-8% of the value Yorkshire Jewellery charged me. All jewellers told me the ring was cheap and of poor quality with significant impurities in the diamond to which one of them showed me the huge amount of carbon within the diamond. It's hardly surprising they initially refused to buy back their own stock, clearly knowing they had basically sold me what is basically the equivalent of fools gold. It's disappointing they failed to honour their restocking policy that I was told at the point of sale but I can totally understand their reasons for refusing it, knowing the true market value of what they had sold me. I hope this helps others, obviously I initially liked the unique design and initial customer service. I guess I've learned the hard way that you should always check the authenticity of jewellery with independent verification.
