Entry to the grounds is free. The visitor centre and cafe are not ope everyday. At the time of our visit there was a trail to follow with clues that our 5 year old really enjoyed. The grounds are lovely to walk around, with some steps to view some areas. The history of the castle is fascinating to learn about.

The guided walking tour is informative and useful to understand the amazing history on this castle. My tour conducted by Andrea was the highlight of my trip up North!

Proms at the Castle. Good facilities, extra toilets brought in. Good concert, not mind bending good but certainly above average. A couple more food venders would be a good addition. Better as a group than a couple. The fireworks were ok, didn't really work that well. It wasn't really dark enough, but that's a time of year thing. An appropriate review would be 3.5 stars. I would go back again as a group social event, more than just for the music and fireworks.

Fantastic day out with the family. Great for little kids 5yrs and 1yrs. Free to get in and park. Lovely herb garden, small activities as you walk around. Plenty of picnic tables. Marquee set up for shade or cover. Lovely little adventure park. Gift shop and refreshments. Also provided free craft. Good for SEN/autistic people too.

Interesting and informative to walk round. Steps for better viewing, well maintained for picnics on the grass. Special events so check their website. Cafe and toilets plus kids park, really good few hours! Car park nearby (I parked in morrisons as shopping after) and you can walk around the outside, on paths and over the road.

It's never going to put castles like Edinburgh or Dover out of business buts it's a lovely place to spend some time and have a wander. Really nicely presented, lots of info boards and great gardens that must be quite impressive when in season. Free parking nearby is a bonus (plus a couple of disabled spots right outside) but might get busy at peak times.

Well worth taking a walk around what's left of the castle. The remains were very impressive and the area views were pretty good. They have a very nice gift shop too and it's free admission.

Amazing Castle which I'd free to go in too. There is a cafe and a museum and shop too. Beautifully kept grounds. Very interesting history and on some days you can go in the dungeons. Well worth a visit.

If you wanted to experience the British history about war and stuff then this is the right place for you. There are also a playground and a cafe as well so it's very family friendly atmosphere. Toilet are provided, wheelchair accessible, CCTV to prevent of crimes. It's not too many people so don't worry about social distancing. Make sure you have a windproof coat as it's so windy round the castle. Carpark is on the North Bailey Gate. Enjoy xx
