I visited this spa recently with my mother for a day spa and we had the most amazing time, fantastic facilities and lovely helpful staff. A great 2 course meal was included and the food was great, we stayed for evening meal to which was lovely before heading home. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I was asked politely to leave a review by the lady at reception but I did not catch her name, long brown hair. She was very bubbly. I had a very good stay. was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the location was perfect for getting around. Would definitely stay here again!

Usually staying in Premier Inns, we thought we’d splash out on a more luxurious hotel for a change. Little did we know that the Tankersley Manor would be a) dilapidated b) unkempt c) unclean d) noisy e) employing staff that looked scruffy f) closed for drinks when we arrived back at 11.07pm g) have room service trays laying around the corridors from our arrival at 4.45pm until our return at 11.15pm h) have excrement on the bathroom door i) having bathroom hooks that fell of when you hung anything on them j) having no bottle opener for the minibar k) having one teaspoon for tea and coffee options l) have toilet tissue so thin that it took half a roll of waste to get it rolling correctly m) have dead flies and wasps on an unsecured old stone window ledge that hadn’t seen a cloth in weeks n) have laundry deliveries and banging doors below our room (68) from 7.10am on a Sunday morning o) be offered no condiments with the bar meal (pizza was exceptionally good however) p) have a solitary looking dying plant basket with three faded blue flowers on as a welcome hanging basket q) have all the bracketry and irrigation system still hung rotting from years ago when the hotel must have looked splendid unlike the poor excuse for a 4/5 star hotel that tried to charge us through a third party £232 for the room. Had we booked directly with TM, it would have been £280. Utterly appalling. The place needs closing for a complete and exhaustive overhaul. Dirty carpets covered with trip hazard rugs is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Maybe that is what it might take to get Mercure to realise just how desperate this poor hotel is. The manager Gemma Buckingham, was kind enough to listen to my grievances on the Sunday morning and recompensed accordingly.

Did a mini spa day. The facilities are clean and weren't over crowded. The treatment was very good and also very clean. Food was good and not over priced. Overall a very positive experience and will definitely be returning. If you have time have a walk to the lake a fantastic end to the day of relaxing

I use the gym frequently it It is a little rundown and the swimming pool could do with a good scrubbing The lift is not Worked for months when asked the staff about it they just keep making excuses Which is not acceptable as most of the people are olderly and they need to get down to the gym which has lots of steps Would I recommend this facility I'm not sure

Not relaxing at all. First time at this spa and highly disappointed especially after spending over £100 pound. I had one treatment which the lady who did the treatment was good ( although it was only 15 mins and should have been 25 mins ). Unfortunately this was not relaxing as was drowned by the sound of children screaming throughout. I was not aware that this spa is actually a public baths. When we went into the pool there was several children splashing about so was impossible to swim or relax. The changing rooms was over crammed with people which meant it was impossible to get to your locker. The facilities are not big enough to be publicly open. The locker doors was also falling off in peoples hands as they was opening them. After on my booking it stated afternoon tea we did not receive this as they stated that it was not available at the time we had book but nor did they inform us of this when booking and had not eaten before as was looking forward to this. Overall if you are looking to relax this is not the place to go I am a busy mum of four and was hoping to escape the screams for a couple of hours relaxation but left feeling More tense and very disappointed.would not recommend.

Bought a spa package for my in laws who live nearby as a Christmas gift and when my mother in law called to book a date for her treatments they refused her service the second she mentioned Groupon, the receptionist just said they're booked (until the end of time?!) And that she would have to contact Groupon. Totally ridiculous service and honestly sketchy business practices. They've removed themselves from Groupon so I'm assuming they just decided not to honor the Groupons that had already been purchased. We did end up getting a refund from Groupon but will definitely never come here in the future. My mother in law phoned them the other day just asking about spa packages (without mentioning Groupon) and the receptionist was suddenly friendly and offered to email her the spa packages and prices which were more expensive and not as nice of packages. Definitely will never come here due to the lack of customer service and sketchy business practices and will be letting all of our family and friends in Rotherham know as well.

The spar was excellent, only the food afterwards let everything down. Customers left after waiting too long for their desserts to be brought. Me and my wife had the fish and chips off the menu which should have come with mushy peas, curry sauce and salt and vinegar scraps. The scraps where none existent and the mushy peas with both meals were clap cold. My wife didn't want me to make a fuss, so we said nothing. The couple on the table beside us said theirs were as well. On the table behind us, the lady left all of the sandwich meal she'd purchased. Only drinking her drink. The length of time waiting to be served in the restaurant was a big turn off, as well. A real great shame, it let the whole experience down, after we had spent over £200 on gifts for loved ones as well. But you live and learn. Probably short staffed. But there shouldn't be excuses. One star because I can't award less. Where do I start? Don't go, don't book!!! The place is filthy and falling apart! The spa is nothing short of a health hazard, see pics attached from just over a week ago. Loose sharp tiles in steam room, furniture falling apart what little there is if it. Place looks like it has not been cleaned for months, green algae on pool steps, thick black tide mark on pool wall, black mould pool side! Awful!! Service is poor and slow to say the least, waited an hour for lunch whilst on a spa break! Please don't waste your hard earned cash, how this place has 4* is beyond me. The response from our complaint was dismissive to say the least; see screenshot. Never again!!
