In 2024 we came here often for special occasions and had a good experience. I feel on the 2 occasions visited in 2025 (latest Oct) the food has been good but the staff have been rushed and frantic, leading to a stressful atmosphere. Maybe they are understaffed, I do not know but hope its improves soon.
Very disappointed with this “pizza express” more like a slow train to nowhere. We arrived at 6pm as per our booking. It was 6:30 before our order was taken. We were going to a show at 7:30 along the road and had thought that we were in plenty of time. At 6:50 we enquired where our pizzas were because we were in a hurry. We were told they were just going in the ovens. At 7:05 we said that we would have to get them in boxes to take away as we would not have time to eat them and get to the show. It was finally 7:15 when we received our pizzas in boxes and paid for them. although we were given 50% off the price, it didn’t make up for not being able to enjoy a nice pre- theatre family meal and having to eat cold pizza in the car during the interval of the show. The whole time we were there, Deliveroo drivers were arriving and being handed pizzas. clearly Pizza Express prioritise these orders over their restaurant customers. The truly shocking thing is exactly the same thing happened last year to our daughter and her granny, the same week, going to the same pantomime. They also didn’t get their food in time and had to race out with it in boxes. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to this branch of Pizza Slow train to Nowhere again.
Booked my daughter’s 8th Birthday party here and it was a huge hit with the kids. Dan the chef was fun and entertaining. The kids all enjoyed the pizzas they made along with doughballs, ice cream and unlimited squash for less than £15/head which is good value compared to other kids parties nowadays. This pizza express building has character as it’s in an old church and I would definitely recommend for a party.
On 14th December 2024, my wife and I visited this restaurant second time. All foods were good and all staff were very kind. We enjoyed very much our lunch in there. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!
Interior was fantastic, looked gorgeous and was clean. Service was impeccable, our server was lovely and chatty and took wonderful care of us - checked we could have certain dishes the way we wanted and gave us A+ recommendations when certain items were unavailable. The food was also delicious, having been the only member of my party to have not come to Pizza Express before I agree with my fellow diners that it is awesome. Also had some crayons and a booklet for our kiddo which is always a plus.
What an amazing building with a good location. the food and venue are cool. A place worth visiting for some pizza and some gelato.
Very grateful for all your attention to detail in helping our party enjoy our evening. Having a quiet table, with music speaker turned down and the loop system meant my mother could enjoy the conversation despite deafness. Thank you, we will be back!
This particular venue is interesting. It's located in an old church and if you are a fan of Muriel Spark you will love all the quotes on the walls from The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
What an amazing building. It has a unique space with high ceilings. Although on one side it is a shame that it's a pizza place (when it could be a music hall) on the other side it's great that the building is being used. The pizza is good, the service is efficient and what you would expect from Pizza Express. I'm giving it 5 stars because I really enjoyed it and it is what I expected. I would recommend it for a casual pizza night.
