Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I went alone and only waited 5 minutes for a seat (the line for the rest was an hour and a half when I got there). The staff were amazing and described the menu and recommended number of dishes in great detail and were so attentive and polite. I ended up getting the Chote Papad to start and it was delicious and came with a mango chutney as well as some other complimentary sauces which were divine. For mains I got the House Daal which lived up to the hype and was more a mild spice so would suit everyone. I paired it with a garlic naan. Overall amazing experience and would love to go back and try some more vege/vegan dishes!

What an amazing place. Extremely busy and we visited on a Monday night. We booked as we were a group of six and I am glad I did as the wait was 90mins or more. It's clear why this place is busy, the food is fantastic and the service is good. We ordered mains with rice and naan, along with small plates and shared amongst us.

Having tried Dishoom before in London, I already knew what to expect… and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The food was bursting with rich, authentic Indian flavours and perfectly balanced spices that make every bite memorable. The atmosphere in the Edinburgh branch is warm and inviting, with that signature Dishoom charm. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but honestly, the quality and taste make it worth it. Note that you need to have reservations to get in.

I had high hopes for Dishoom Edinburgh, but unfortunately my visit was ruined by a combination of disappointing dishes and poor service. Atmosphere & Layout The restaurant itself is stylish, though not the easiest to navigate. The ground floor is mainly taken up by the open kitchen, with some window seating at high tables and stools. Most of the dining space is upstairs, reached by a very narrow staircase β€” barely wide enough for people to pass one another. The upstairs area is lively, divided into two sections by wood-and-glass partitions, with white beams, retro chandeliers, ceiling fans, and a mix of dark wood tables: some topped with green-and-white chequered surfaces, others with marble. There are nice views over St Andrew Square. Food β€’ House Chai: The portion was tiny for the price and far too sweet, heavy on cinnamon and cardamom. β€’ Chole Puri Halwa (Β£15.30): This β€œchef’s favourite breakfast” came with chickpeas, halwa, pickles, and one giant puri. Unfortunately, the chickpeas were overwhelmingly sour with too much tamarind, and the carrots were over-pickled to the point of being unpleasant. The halwa, while decent with a good nutty topping, felt misplaced β€” it would have worked better as a dessert at the end of the meal rather than served alongside everything else. Service The biggest letdown was the service. On leaving, a waiter dropped not one but two plates of food over me and onto the table next to mine, which completely spoiled the meal. Overall Dishoom Edinburgh has an attractive interior and a lively atmosphere, but between the unbalanced flavours, small portions, and an unfortunate service mishap, my experience was far from enjoyable.

Booked Dishoom for my wife's birthday and I'm so glad that I did, the place was buzzing with atmosphere and even at 17:00 it was rammed and the staff were on point with service. Our waitress was really thorough in explaining the dishes to us as it was our first time here and really helped with making the meal just right. Food was so good that I couldn't pick a favourite dish. Just a overall grey experience and so glad that we were able to go.

We visited this place in Nov -22 during visit to Edinburgh. It’s located in central location. It normally have long queues and waiting time- so pre booking is strongly recommend. Hospitality was very good.. we need to wait for 20 mints as it was a busy evening- they provided complementary Tea. Drinks menu was interesting. Apart from regular beer, wine and cocktails- they have good fusion cocktails with indigenous drinks.. they tastes awesome. Food was very good in taste. We enjoyed a lot and love to visit again. Regarding cons: Plate portions can be increased- I feel it a bit less than standard and if they can reduce the waiting time- it would be great !!

Dishoom is a must-visit in Edinburgh. We had such an enjoyable experience. Even though they don’t take dinner reservations, guests can enjoy their great cocktails at the basement bar while waiting for a table. The service is just superb - staff always come round to make sure you’re taken care of, and very accommodating with your requests. The tapas-style modern Indian street cuisine is delicious, as are their drinks.

Absolutely amazing. Every dish was so flavorful I couldn’t have imagined it to be any better. We had a large group of 8 and I would definitely recommend getting a reservation. The staff explained the menu for us and helped us pick out dishes. The Ruby chicken is so good and enough for one person. Would recommend getting a side of garlic naan
