Just recently reopened and the decor is superb. The staff are warm and friendly and it has a great atmosphere. There are 4 Real Ales with Landlord and Jarl regular and 2 guest ales. If you are in the area pay a visit and you will not be disappointed.

We were looked after wonderfully by the team - charcuterie board of dreams (even though they’d stopped serving) and a lovely bottle of red. Thank you for looking after two exhausted Mums so kindly!

We came for a couple of drinks and a meat and cheese board. They have a good selection of alcohol-free lager as well as real ales on tap. The meat and cheese board was really good, lots of different additions eg almonds, peppers and aioli, plus delicious bread. The atmosphere was great, busy on a Saturday night, we were lucky to find a table. Would definitely recommend for drinks and nibbles.

Just re-opened under new ownership and management! We found The Grey Horse by chance whilst Holidaying near Balerno, What a find! it had opened the night before, new manager Amy and her team were so welcoming, The pub has a traditional bar at one side and a very friendly lounge for relxed drinks at the other. They served a great Provence Rose' that was excellent value for the quality of the wine and I had the Timothy Taylor's Landlord which was really well cellared, given the distance it had travelled. The owners have taken real care in restoring the pub and created some great spaces. This place will be a real hit with Real Ale, Camra members and anyone that wants a really good pint in and around Edinburgh area. They don't serve food currently and are concentrating on being a great Pub, there's some really good food options in Balerno for dinner. We loved it, the place is everything you would want in a great pub with really friendly Bar Staff.. We will be back!

The Grey Horse has just re-opened after a change of ownership and a massive refurbishment, and it looks fantastic. It's kept the small public bar that was hallmark of the Grey Horse, but transformed the 2nd bar, and added the Backroom bar as another fantastic space. Great selection, excellent service, and really welcoming place for a few drinks. Highly recommended.

The absolute best Chinese food I have ever tasted. The food is made from scratch. What a difference to the normal Chinese food you get elsewhere. Had the best won ton soup and crispy Chile beef . Highly recommended. Fab staff too

What an amazing Chinese. Sat in as a family of 3, a nice relaxed place. Served by Jane who was nothing but friendly and catered to everyone’s needs… then onto the food… Blown away by the quality of the meal. Food fresh and piping hot straight out the kitchen. Every single dish tasted amazing. Would highly recommend and shall be returning soon.

Looking at the name, you might be surprised to hear that the Grey Horse Inn is not just a pub - it is also home to the best Chinese takeout in Edinburgh. It's been so incredibly popular with locals since they started offering Chinese food over lockdown that you have call in advance to book your slot. But it's 100% worth it. We've loved it so much that we've sat in a couple of times to enjoy the food too whilst having a pint. And the folks there are always so friendly!
