The ex-blacksmith's Crammond workshop café where the river joins the Firth of Forth is a delight. Though close to Edinburgh it could be in the depths of the countryside - on a Cornish inlet for instance. Getting away from it all couldn't be easier! Popular but not crowded, salmon bagels to die for.
Quirky place on Cramond Harbour. We went for breakfast. You have to book ahead if you want to sit inside, felt like a covid restriction that has never been lifted. Breakfast choice is limited to set 'stacks'. No eggs which is odd. Food quality was decent and the coffee good. Service friendly. But perhaps best on a day when you can sit outside and enjoy the surroundings.
Lovely location as you can see from the photo. Limited seating outside, but fantastic after a dog walk along Cramond Beach if you can get one. There are seats inside but you have to ask for access and no dogs inside; so not a rainy day refuge if out on a dog walk ☹️
What a bizarre establishment! You can't just enter but have to ask the woman at the hatch to open the door. We were literally the only customers inside, which suggests this approach simply turns people away. The menu is very limited (bagels, paninis or soup) and overpriced for what it is (£10 for a cheese and tomato bagel...). The service, however, was pleasant enough.
We feel like we are sharing this review a bit late but my partner and I found ourselves stranded in the area (our bike locks had broken) on a rainy day. The Manager was kind enough to let us in to get out of the rain and use our phones, despite them not having enough space. We also did have plenty of time whilst waiting for a locksmith to come out to have a hot chocolate and a sandwich; both of which were delicious. So, a very belated but yet still very heartfelt thank you for your kindness on the day and highly recommend for the service (bike stress or not!) and the delicious food!
Incredible breakfast spot! Grabbed our coffee and scone for our walk. My husband highly recommended the sausage maple cream cheese bagel! I loved the cheese scone!
A great starting point to grab a take away Latte before either going along Almond river walk or heading to the island. Currently working as a take away, but has some seats outside. Friendly service.
Must have had a million coffees and cookies and scones and muffins from this cafe over the years. It's great. If you're a tourist in Edinburgh, grab a bus to Cramond, take a beautiful walk and buy something here.
Bijou little cafe with an aura of quality. Spotlessly clean - always a big plus with the Forth Valley Scone Rangers. It seems that at 10.30 am we were lucky to get an inside table without booking, so that speaks volumes for its popularity. The menu suggested that your bank balance needed to be in fine fettle for a visit here, but as usual we were only concerned with coffee and scones. The coffee, I must say, was very good as were the in-house scones. Crisp on the outside and really niçely baked. No plain scones are on offer which was a slight disappointment to me, and no cream to be had which is a major disappointment. When so many other establishments are happy to provide cream it’s hard to see why the Cramond Bistro can’t. An excuse was offered but it sounded pretty flimsy. I don’t really want to carp too much because the staff were pleasant and we enjoyed our visit. If you haven’t been to Cramond, get down there pronto. It’s a delightful spot. There’s a leafy riverside walk (complete with kingfisher on the day), a tidal island to visit and a beach to walk and exercise your dog. Really picturesque. What are you waiting for?
