“One of Edinburgh's best kept secrets! Situated on Edinburgh College's Milton Road campus, the delicious meals are cooked and served by students of the college. There may be a bit of a wait or occasional mix ups as the young people are mastering their hospitality journal but any misstep is more than made up for by the quality of the food, the local, seasonal ingredients and the happy atmosphere. A very economical way to experience really good food. The views are really nice too.”

The surroundings are pleasant, and the prices are very reasonable. Our party was 3 adults and 2 children, and the kids were happy with the children's menu. “The owner greets you upon entering then will proceed to seat you and provide you with a menu. Soon after he will come back to take your drinks order. After drinks a different server came to take our food order. I had a pizza and it was absolutely delicious. I tried their special menu ravioli and it was amazing just like the pizza. The drinks were good and it was a bar so had alcohol. I also had a tiramisu which was a really good dessert. I would really recommend going to this Italian restaurant if you want Italian food.”

The head waiter and staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough for you. We had the anniversary tasting menu, and it was superb, not one dish could we find fault with. My daughter even said it was the best meal she ever had. Highly recommend to anyone.”

“My friend and I were there Sun 20/7 and, as always, the food was excellent & the staff were fantastic. There are some new staff and it's great to see them working well with the more experienced one's. A special call out to the lady who uncorked the red wine early for my friend, just a lovely, friendly & super efficient person! And to Francesca, thank you for all your help with my dairy free! My friend & I visit Cibo a few times a year and it's consistently excellent overall. Happy to give 5 stars everywhere.”

“First time here and I'm so pleased with the food and service! We were unaware that they had a limited menu for lunch, so we chose from what was available. Yet, the service size and flavors did not disappoint! My husband and I both chose the same dish. I can’t eat potatoes and asked if they could change them for one of the side dishes, and they did at no extra charge. I was very pleased with the flavors, my husband too, and the overall experience. The prices are very reasonable! The building inside is pretty with some rock walls (they seem to be real rocks) and they simple yet nice decoration. The two boys working today were very attentive and always checking that things were okay. They advised my husband on a drink he wanted to have, too. We would be happy to go back when in Edinburgh again. We would try to go for dinner, though, so we could try different dishes.”

“A very atmospheric restaurant with only 14 tables, so quite intimate, with low volume background music and low lighting in the basement. We were served by the head waitress who was excellent throughout the evening. Took our drinks and food orders, corrects the owner when she brought the wrong beer, brought the bill without being asked and saw us out. The best service we have seen anywhere in the world and she’s Scottish too. The food was great from bread, amuse bouchée to starter through to dessert. A limited set menu but interesting Scottish produce.”

“I booked a table for 7 adults to celebrate my husband's birthday. I called to push the time by 15mins which was not a problem. The service is very friendly, patient and informative. The food was excellent and enjoyed by everyone. There is plenty of choice for all tastes, the steaks were cooked to everyone's requirements. Everyone in our party really enjoyed the food and all said they would be back. I took a cake along and they brought it out to birthday music and gave us a knife and plates. I can't thank the staff enough for looking after us and making our night special. Highly recommend The Coronation Inn.”

“We only needed a place for an hour before an appointment and came across this lovely place by pure accident. And how fortunate was that. Lovely atmosphere, stunning views, friendly service, possibly the best ever velvet cake and the cinnamon swirls were amazing too, which explains why I ate half of mine before remembering to take a photo! Definitely want to come back with a bit more time to linger & enjoy.”

So we chanced it rocking up towards the start of service hoping to get squeezed in. (Edinburgh at the fringe is busy). The menu has hand written additions/specials, some bin end wines to take advantage off.
