“We had a brilliant meal at Ka Pao. The cocktails were excellent — the Coco Kwai was beautifully balanced and refreshing, and the Old Fashioned packed a proper punch (though we didn’t really catch the pandan flavor, it was still delicious). For starters, we tried the vegan corn ribs and patron peppers — both full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The mains were just as impressive: the hospital cabbage and gaeng garee curry were bursting with spice and depth, and the strip-fried broccoli made a great side. Every dish was vibrant and well thought out, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. We’ll definitely be back!”

“Really tasty and great options. Staff were friendly, welcoming and informative. Good pricing, especially for the location. Fries are extra but I would suggest sharing between two as portions are quite large. No need to book as quite a large space and walk-in was available, however you can book if you want to ensure a table.”

“Visited for a beer tasting experience, stayed for further food & beer. The beer tasting was excellent, really appreciated the commentary on the beers given by the staff member. Was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food. The haggis bites with chippy sauce, cauliflower bites ('KFC') and mac and cheese were all elevated massively from the usual pub grub fare. Really really tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, and the place had a good atmosphere. They sell cask beers from other local breweries as well as their own beer (which these days includes the Inveralmond range e.g. Ossian) Looking forward to returning”

“My first time in German Doner Kebab, and it was lovely. I ordered a gym box and a Diet Coke, and the food came fresh with homemade sauces, everything for around 10 pounds. The lady who took my order was amiable with a big smile.”

“Amazing! Had afternoon tea with a gift voucher and it was delicious. Said I was vegetarian and was not a problem to get all veggie sandwiches. Scones were warm which was a nice touch. Good selection of cakes and all lovely. Staff were really nice and food came quick.”

“This place was great every time we came in. It was on the pricier side but overall we really enjoyed the food (especially the crunchy döner bread). Meat portions were also very generous. One thing that I wish they did was mix the meat with the veggies. All veggies were always at the bottom. Would have been nice if they were more layered or mixed up”

“Excellent tap room which serves food. There is also a beer shop on site which also sells merchandise. Seating inside and out and very quick service on the food. Plenty of parking available. You can book a table if busy but note this is only for 3 hours. We did not book and we were fine even though plenty of people in.”

“Bellfield Brewery, you have my heart. The atmosphere was already lovely, but we happened to visit on quiz night, which made it even more fun and lively. The beer selection was great, the staff were absolutely lovely, and the whole vibe was just spot on. When we went, there was a guest kitchen running — a burger place — and we tried the Oklahoma Burger. It was so good I couldn’t resist getting a second one! Out of the four nights we spent in Edinburgh, we dedicated one to Bellfield, and we’re so glad we did. It was one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. Next time I’m in Edinburgh, this will be right at the top of my list to revisit.”

“Ok, WOW. A very unexpected, amazing food experience. Looking in for the first time, you think???? But then …… Oskar (the chef) was absolutely delightful. Customer service was through the roof and the food… Well, the kebab was just superb, the chips thick and crunchy, and the sauces were so good, my son also couldn’t fault his burger. Oskar fed our group with a range of dishes all so tasty and homemade. This must be my best hidden gem of a find EVER!!! Just WOW. I’m so looking forward to a follow up visit. Unfortunately, this might have ruined me for alternative Turkish/Kurdish dining, FOREVER!!! FYI: as you can see, I finished it all. Not sure how cause it was massive.”

Food: The halloumi and avocado salad was fantastic — fresh and full of flavour. I tried the Korean filthy chips, which turned out to be more like thick potato wedges. They weren’t bad, just not quite what I expected. Prices: Very fair pricing for both the quality and portion sizes. Conclusion: A great little place that I’d happily visit again.”
