German restaurant in Manchester

“Great spot for always having at least one gluten free beer on tap, usually a couple. I'm a big fan of when they've got locals like Brightside. Generally a good atmosphere whenever I come. Sometimes a lot busier than others, probably event related as it's very close to a number of live venues. That said, I can often find a seat in the second, quieter room pictured below. I would appreciate GF food options, but I understand this is exceptionally difficult considering they do pizzas. The music is almost never particularly loud, which means you can always converse. The only setback would be that some of the beers can be pricey, but this is absolutely to be expected given they are quality craft beers rather than mass products, and I say this is one of the few spots where it's worth it”

“I came with my girlfriend and this place is awesome. Was a lovely place and the food was amazing, really recommended. Keep it up!! My favorite one was mixed kebab with hummus! Best combination ever!”

“Thank you for the incredible food and excellent service at Shaam. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I couldn’t help but notice the same care and attention given to the dishes on other tables as well, all accompanied by a wonderful aroma. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make my birthday special by bringing out a slice of cake with a candle, creating a lovely atmosphere. My only suggestion would be to offer a variety of music, and we did notice a few bothersome flies from time to time.”

“This is a lovely restaurant. Went on a Saturday night around 8pm and it was busy but not overly busy. Servers are attentive and food and drink was served quickly. The prices are very good for what you get. Added bonus is that you can take your own wine/drink in (I don’t drink however they do serve soft drinks) Food is well cooked and there’s lots of it to choose from. Went for a few small plates and a large main (Lamb Shawarma). Well worth a visit.”

“Absolutely loved this hotel. It is a short walking distance from the train station, easy to access. The building looks amazing and the rooms are just fab! It is a proper hotel room but very well equipped even had a small kitchen installed giving a feeling of an RBnb so you can cook your own meals if you want. Nice and clean bathroom with some nice brands of shampoo and body wash. Also had iron and hair dryer. Oh, and the view was stunning, staff was superfriendly. Wifi was quick, easy to connect and even the staircase looks beautiful. Highly recommended accomodation if you visit Manchester.”

“I just celebrated my birthday and book release ("Sun-Kissed and Sidetracked") here, and I couldn’t be happier! The service was top-notch; the team greeted me warmly and made me feel really special. The food and drinks were delicious, and everything came out super fast. A lovely complementary dessert plate made my day. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone wanting a memorable meal! “Outstanding delivery experience from German Doner Kebab! A huge shoutout to Ayesha and Hussein for their excellent service. The food arrived fresh, hot, and perfectly packaged — exactly how a takeaway should be. Ayesha made sure everything in the order was spot on, with all the extras and sauces included (which so many places get wrong!). You can tell there’s real attention to detail and care behind the scenes. Hussein clearly takes pride in the prep — the doner was packed with flavour, generous portions, and just the right balance of meat, salad, and sauce. Fast delivery, great quality, and brilliant service — couldn’t ask for more. Thanks again to Ayesha and Hussein for making it such a smooth and satisfying experience. “Lovely place, right next to Heaton Park metro. Only had a brew and a cake but it’s spacious, light and airy, with nice, big booths and a sunny back yard (looks like a good set up for DJ’s too) Coffee was good, sweet stuff was from Silver Apples, so pretty familiar and more than decent quality. Staff were super friendly. Will definitely head back and try some proper food and drinks soon”

“We saw on our receipt that our server’s name was Jazmine Louise. She was an absolute delight — had us chuckling away and made us feel very welcome. Such a friendly and funny young lady, she really made our outing that much nicer. As a couple that doesn’t get out as much these days, it was really lovely to feel so welcomed. She’s actually given us the confidence to start dining out a bit more — even if it’s just back to German Doner Kebab! The food was great too — I had the doner wrap which was amazing, especially with the three sauces on it, and my partner had the quesadilla meal which he really enjoyed. All in all, a lovely experience thanks to Jazmine and the great food!”

“Arguably one of the best Donner Wraps that I've had in a long, long time. The mests are very flavoursome and they're not dry like some other places. The prices are reasonable and it's definitely worth the money. Chips taste nice too and you get a good selection of 3 sauces which is a nice added extra. Didn't have to wait a long time to get my food either. I'd buy my Donner from here any day rather than the cheaper takeaways nearby. The salad and sauce that comes on the Wrap is also very tasty! Always updating their menu too which is good to see.”

“Lit up from the outside this venue is very welcoming. Soft ambient lighting indoors always gives a romantic feel drawing you to go inside. Also the promise of 2 for 1 cocktails might have something to do with it. I have eaten here a few times now and it lived up to expectations in every way. Inside the lighting does seem quite dim but adds to the atmosphere and the decor is rustic Caribbean and this makes you imagine you are in a different country. Everything is brightly coloured and fun. I have been fortunate enough never to have to book in advance but have seen it both very busy and also quite at other times. The table sauces look scary hot but do compliment the food incredibly. Even the toilets represent a beach hut feel. Food has never been fast to come out no matter how busy it is but worth the wait when it does. Also Jamaican Red Stripe lager on tap for as true Caribbean feel. Did I mention the cocktails. Food wise I have tried the Jerk chicken breast and half Jerk chicken. Both made with ghost chilli pepper sauce. Yes it's hot but you can still taste the flavours. Looking forward to my next visit.”

“I absolutely love this place. First visited 20 +years ago when they first opened and I lived in Manchester. I now live up North near Penrith so it’s a treat when I get to visit and I feel like a kid in a sweet shop… The selection is incredible, the price are good, presentation is beautiful. Quality is top notch… staff are lovely I only wish we had a place like this up north and I could visit everyday!!!”

“The place to go in Royton - and Oldham for that matter - for craft beer. The menu is always changing with great choices from various breweries from across the UK. The atmosphere is always good and you're always given a friendly welcome. The food is great too, be it the in-house burgers or the various street food vendors that come into the kitchen, too.”
