Winchef used to be one of the best Chinese takeaways in the area. Good food, friendly staff. Unfortunately, since the recent takeover the food is not as good and the service is non-existent. Cash only, slooow deliveries and forgetful staff. Such a shame for the area, won’t be trying again.

I am currently writing this 1hr 45m after ordering. I have been sat inside waiting for 45 of those minutes and been told it will be ten minutes, twice. It is a Saturday night, which might make a difference, but don't take the order if you can't fulfil it within a decent timeframe. Very poor and very unimpressed. I don't think I have ever waited this long for a Chinese takeaway, not least as I only ordered a small meal that really doesn't take long to make.

The wait time is far too long and this has happened more than once. They do nice food but need to learn when to say they can’t take any more orders. We ordered at 7:00 and were told it would be 45m to an hour. An hour and a half later….. Still waiting.

WARNING! Before you visit, read this: DO NOT BUY TOFU HERE!!! Originally, I was actually gonna rate this place a 2 star, however, I felt it was harsh given that their egg fried rice and salt and pepper chicken was decent. So they know how to cook some dishes quite well, quite balanced flavours were found in their egg fried rice and salt and pepper chicken was not the best I’ve had but was well-made given I was in the border of Gloucestershire. The chicken was deep-fried correctly however, I suspect the tofu (bean curb) was deep-fried together and for as long as the chicken… The tofu was rock hard, no juices inside… was not soft inside either … so they massively overcooked it. And this was arguably the worst tofu I’ve ever had in my life. It’s cleared their internal clock for deep frying only works for chicken. The Tofu was just a disappointment and waste of money. Not to mention that the portion sizes are quite small in comparison to other semi local competitors, no free prawn crackers despite spending £24.70 here. Most places whack that in for free for this amount spent. If you’ve never been here before , I recommend you ask them for their best selling dish and only try those as a safe bet.

Spring roll not great and burnt all the way through. Szechun chicken was mostly onion with very little rubbery chicken and tasted like vaugly sweet and sour onion. Beef with blackbean was watery. Sweet and sour prawn balls were doughy unpleasant. Singapore chow mein lacked meat but had beansprouts. If this was a restaurant you would send it back to the chef and walk out without paying or eating. Unfortunately being a take away they've had your money. Complete rip off. DO NOT BUY DO NOT TRY. Trust the 1* reviews.

Very friendly staff but I have to say the food wasn't great. I usually live chinese food but this was bland, dry and tasteless. There was a point I thought the food wasn't cooked through properly. Probably might go back as a quick dinner but otherwise I would avoid
