Visited: 26/06/2017 HEADLINES Premises: Good clean hotel standard premises. Staff: Very welcoming and attentive. Service: Supportive and good. Menu: Reasonable range of dishes specialising in steaks. Food: Variable quality and presentation very basic DETAIL Large spacious restaurant with enough soft furnishings to soften ambient sound. Toilets in nearby bar clean and modern. Without doubt the front of house staff aim to please. Very attentive throughout the entire meal. Menu options clearly explained with recommendations. Able to deal with food allergies (although some foods 'bought in and apparently not certain of full ingredients list so they play it safe). Greeted with wine sample taster. Good range of food on the menu including offers such as 'Two dine with wine for fifty-nine' (pounds). General menu at typical hotel prices so tending to be expensive (cheapest steak £23) when the quality is taken into account. Some of the food was well cooked (especially the scallops) but across three courses presentation was weak considering the setting and price. Didn't match the higher quality of the service. The rib eye steaks varied around the table with some finding it a little tough and grisly and others fine. Ice cream was delicious but too large a serving and very poorly presented - 3+ scoops on a dish with a strawberry on top. Overall, would not entice me to eat there again.
