Our first experience of the carvery here and it was great. On a Sunday only carvery is served if you wanted the normal menu then don't go on Sunday. It would be nice to choose though especially with fusy eaters. Veg was limited carrots, cabbage, peas, beans, parsnip and Cauliflower cheese. Again if someone didn't like cheese but liked Cauliflower on its own you couldn't have it. However the lady serving did offer to cut up the meet for my youngest which was nice.

Great Sunday carvery, 3 meats and help yourself veg. Last visited a year ago.Wasnβt too busy.Great attentive waitress friendly and polite.Nice big garden with play area.I thought it was a little expensive for the plate size.Worth a visit though.

Had to book a place to eat at the last moment and it was Mother's Day. This place had vacancies whereas others did not. The other reviews here aren't the best by far, but I needed a place to meet up with family and friends so the food wasn't a first priority. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The carvery was good although the beef was rather leather like and hard to chew on. The pork was excellent and so was the turkey. Some of us had the gammon and chips, again good. The service was prompt and very polite. A few crying babies in the room did spoil the conversation but that's no fault of the establishment, it is family pub after all. I would recommend it and concider coming back at a later date.

Decided to visit for lunch as heard good reviews from a while ago from friends but never visited , very disappointed , seating in conservatory had no atmosphere like being in a school hall and the carvery was one of the worst weβd had. Gravy was like dishwater and the food was like it had been out since opening. Since going there have noticed very quiet from the outside and can see why. A shame it wasnβt the high standards it use to have

We were surprised at how quiet it was. The food choices and quality of the lunches we had were excellent and great value. The service was immediate and very friendly. I am gluten free and they catered well for me. Lots of choice. The pub is lovely, in a great location and overall had a nice atmosphere. We would recommend it and especially for families as it had an excellent large and safe playground.

Disappointing - read a number of reviews after booking but went along with an open mind - but unfortunately the reviews are correct. Food is average at best, and expensive for what it is. Fish and chips served with 'straight out of a bag' frozen chips and a small piece of fish, with some microwaved mushy peas - edible but not very inspiring... any decent restaurant or pub should be able to provide fresh hand cut and fried chips, and make fresh mushy peas - its not difficult... the cost of this meal is the same as The Duke of Oxford in Weston, and the quality of offering is a world apart. Lasagne - child size portion and quite bland, carvery - good variety but left under a hot lamp for far too long and mostly dried out. A different topic but still relevant - the interior could do with a damn good clean - the lamps over the tables have years and years of dust on them, not a very good indication to how the kitchen could be. This place could be so much more if it had new management and some quality chefs - at the moment its no more than a 'heat and serve' venue much like a Hungry Horse - sad. One good point - the waitress was very good, very friendly and attentive - pity she has to work in a substandard venue. We won't be returning until some substantial changes have been implemented as there are plenty of venues around that provide superior quality of food for the same price. Summary: Think twice before booking, its not inedible, but its not good value for what you get and you could be left very disappointed.

Better than last time I was here. Hard pushed to call this a gastropub, it's just a pub with food. Beer selection still poor, with only one ale on tap (Buttcombe). Carvery and cake of the say were good. Covid precautions still sensible.

Itβs very easy to get here, staff is very friendly and the pub is very clean. We ordered two meals from special menu. Both equally tasty and friend was very pleased with his scampi. Edit: after first very successful visit we come back, but this time food was not so great. Was ok for 3 star βοΈ βοΈ βοΈ. My meal wasnβt as described in the specials menu. Staff dealt with if in the best way, although I feel a bit disappointed βΉοΈ
