First time at Florentin and I will definitely be back. Very relaxing friendly place, comfy chair, tea, top up of tea, delicious soup and nice quality bread. Got a bit of knitting done as well, what more can you ask for, perfect!

A true neighbourhood gem! Such a warm & welcoming space with super friendly staff. The man who I believe is the owner is very kind and approachable. I always feel at ease here, and I love their coffee! A perfect spot to relax or do your work. Thanks all!

Been here a few times food is great, portion sizes are amazing value for money - check the specials board the chorizo bagel & Thai green & lentil soup was top notch. Lush aesthetic inside. Great for just a coffee & cake or lunch

One of my favorite spots during my time in Edinburgh! Great coffee, delicious smoothies and bagels – and the carrot-walnut cake is an absolute highlight. Super friendly team and a really welcoming atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic neighbourhood café with a consistently warm welcome from friendly, hard working staff; delicious food and coffee; and a chilled relaxing atmosphere. Great value for generous portions and family friendly too. We loved the pistachio pancakes

Our visit was lovely, good atmosphere and nice service. Menu has a good selection of breakfast and brunch options. The croque monsier and Norwegian were cheesy and filling. Soup and sandwich combo (pastrami and BLT) were deep filled. Pancakes were a smaller portion. Good wifi connection for those looking to check routes / activities in city centre and conveniently located to pick up a direct bus into town. A cosy neighbourhood haunt.

Staff is rude. No smile and rude tone. Waited 15 minutes for my order taken. When I asked a clarification question she rolled her eyes and repeated rudely. If you look at other recent comments it seems to be the same waitresses. Wont be coming back. Staff are either overworked or over their work.

Awful experience all together and I would give 0 stars if I could. Me and two friends went for lunch and ordered the croque monsieur. The waitress was uninterested and barely gave us the time of day when trying to order. We waited a total of 40! mins for our three toasts. No explanation from the two girls working there and after considering leaving we asked when our food was ready. One of the girls got super defensive and snapped back that they were so busy and 'making a croque monsieur is actually really difficult'. We were all pretty chocked with the tone - and being there seemed like such an inconvenience for them. The food arrived 10 mins later and didn't resemble anything like the croque monsieur's I've had previously. We ate up quickly and will never to return again. Worst service I've had in Edinburgh. Or anywhere.

Receives some stars for the excellent wifi and lovely seats. Loses stars for the food :-( There are pics of amazing looking cakes in the reviews but when i was there unfortunately there were none like that. I ordered the 2 (poached) eggs on toast. The toast wasn't buttered so was dry and hard (although if you ask they do provide butter). The eggs were stringy and watery and made me sick. It's a shame little effort was put into the dish otherwise it would have been nice.

Amazing flat white coffee and pear tarts. Aside from great coffee, the Florentin is slightly less hectic than its neighbour cafe. The cafe really has a different feel: more relaxed and laid back. That is probably due to the innumerable leather sofas and armchairs scattered around the café to complement the vintage chairs and tables. Even the coffee is served in 70s-style cups and saucers. It would be nice if they could eventually have radiators on the wall to heat the café instead of the mobile ones dotted around strategically. That said, it’s not a deal breaker. What I like about this café is its community spirit both in terms of serving it’s neighbours and sharing the work of its local artists. For example, there is currently an exhibition by a local visual artist Hannah Kelly whose work is delightful. Art and great coffee. Can’t be bad POSTSCRIPT: As of 25 July 2021 Covid-19 implementations, they have spaced out their seating and have sanitisers and persecute screens between the tables. They also have a QR code on the menu that is a checkin to the government app to register your whereabouts. Really good communication. Coffee and pastries are still delicious.
