It was only okay. Room smells abit of cigarettes. Room poorly arranged with 1 working socket, bedside lamp not able to work whilst kettle connected ! Otherwise care taken with good shower, bedding and towels and a friendly welcome. Sadly no breakfasts.
Room was basic, but I wasn't looking for flash. Was the only person staying so the shared shower room/toilet was not an issue. Bed was comfy, warm, great view out the window to Forth rail bridge, and reasonably cheap which is what I was looking for. Would happily stay again.
We recently visited The Staghead Hotel Pub in South Queensferry, and it turned out to be one of those hidden gems that perfectly captures what a great local should feel like. You can tell immediately that it’s a place full of history and character — the kind of traditional Scottish pub that’s welcoming to everyone, whether you’re a local regular or just passing through for the day. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and genuine. The staff were fantastic — friendly, attentive, and clearly proud of their place. There’s something refreshing about service that feels personal rather than forced, and that’s exactly what we experienced here. The selection of drinks was excellent, with a great range of beers, whiskies, and gins (the local ones are well worth trying!). Everything was well-kept and served just right. We also ordered food, and it was far better than the typical pub fare you might expect — generous portions, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. The fish and chips were crisp and golden, the burgers juicy, and the presentation top-notch. What really sets The Staghead apart, though, is the setting. Tucked near the waterfront, it offers lovely views and a relaxing beer garden — the ideal spot for a sunny afternoon pint. It’s a place where you can sit back, enjoy good company, and feel part of something local and authentic. A proper pub with charm, heart, and great hospitality — we’ll absolutely be back soon. Highly recommended!
What a fantastic location for this charming hotel. With a handy car park to the rear and easy access into the pub and hotel. Rooms well maintained and very comfy. Nice selection of drinks and food from the on site restaurant. Breakfast is a bit hit or miss as to weather they do it or not. Views from our room were just amazing, lovely walks along the shore line, amazing little village that offers so much. The one issue was no blind in the bathroom for privacy, so unless you like to display all we had to fix a large towel to the sash windows. This aside don't look past this venue for staying over The haggis bon bons are a must. I could if eaten a whole bowl of them and brought some home
This is a wonderful place with a lovely owner and the people from the village. I had an honour to spend an evening in the pub with the locals, and it was my best evening during the whole schottland trip. I would never think it can be! I have never experienced sich a friendly and open atmosphere! I will love to come again. Thank you, Dave, Alan, Claire, and all other guys at that eve!
We were there for New Year's day. The place is very welcoming and the staff are very attentive and always have a smile. We did not book a room as live locally.
Danny always makes us very welcome anytime we visit queensferry we always look him up

The Stag hosted a lovely wedding for the owner's family. They transformed the back room into a perfect venue. A brilliant effort by the team and thank you for looking after us. Well worth chatting to the owners if you want a unique, more intimate wedding on the High Street. Well done to everyone involved!
Didn't stay here but we had the wake here for my brothers /my mums sons funeral we ordered a buffet said what we Would like and we weren't disappointed the buffet was lovely the staff were nice and friendly I even asked for a carrier bag and the person bhind the bar was going to look upstairs for me good service by all the staff who were working and to Danny aswell although he wasn't working but just couldn't help himself but to start clearing Up
