One of the finest in Scotland, let alone Edinburgh. Excellent pies, excellent traditional ale, wonderful staff, wonderful atmosphere. No decent session is complete without a trip to the Diggers
Legendary Edinburgh pub for old men who like their beer and whisky. I fit in just fine. There's a good beer choice these days and they serve "Edinburgh's best pub pie' according to a chalk board. Their scotch pie and Diggers 80 certainly hit the spot.
Huge Scotch whiskey collection with over 400 choices including ones from defunct distilleries. Very knowledgeable and nice staff. They also have a couple of private rooms as well as Snugs seating against the windows. Very nice.
The quintessential neighborhood pub. Quite the trek from the city center but the walk was lovely and I discovered the canal path nearby. I was likely the only tourist inside with locals of all ages enjoying the beautiful day with friends and family. A couple small rooms in the back for groups but the main bar is bright and energetic. Would be a great spot to catch a game.
Superb pub. Pies were both excellent and very cheap. Great range of cask beer; the ones I tried were in fine fettle; cool and well kept. Children over 5 are allowed if they have food and are supervised in the back room which is spacious and has a range of Hearts FC memorabilia. The pub is very busy on match days from previous experience but today was spacious and bright. Famous for its very wide whisky range.
Oh my goodness, what can I say. This place is so full of character. My husband got two very rare whisky’s which he had never had before. (He’s passionate about his single malts!) The barman was fantastic and took the time to find the ones he wanted. Even the regulars that were in were friendly. We’ll definitely be calling back the next time we’re in Edinburgh.
A feast for the eyes... nose and tongue! Because of all the whiskey, wine, gin, and so on. This is one heck of a pub with a long history and an incredible selection. The husband grabbed a cider and a beer. I had a glass of wine. And as a tourist this went to our heads in a pleasing mellow way. And our total for the evening came out to $17.60. Which is a miracle if two drinks cost that much. The quality. The atmosphere. And the staff. Those are the real gems of this place. Cannot wait to go back for pie and a drink soon.
Nice local pub! We had the pies which were nice and cheap. Great collection of whisky too.. 100% recommend if you’re nearby!
Lots of seating, good choices on tap and a very large whisky selection, all reasonably priced. Snacks like pies or nachos available. Dog friendly. Sports quietly on the TV in the background.
This pub is a little gem in Edinburgh. They offer a wide range of whisky and gin for very reasonable prices. The customer service is very nice and the place is also dog friendly. They also offer some good deals such as whiskey or gin of the month. The overall atmosphere is great, I highly recommend visiting this place if you want to taste some of the Scottish whisky or gin and you fancy some authentic pub experience at the same time.
