I went there for the first time today. I have lived all over the world including the US and so have had a lot of dentists over the years. I was REALLY impressed with this practice: thorough, efficient, gentle, knowledgeable and professional. Best dentist I have ever had in Scotland. Will be staying with them.
I’ve been a patient at Townsend Dental Practice for nigh on two decades, and have nothing but praise for every member of staff. The practice has gone from strength to strength under the excellent management of Shirley. I know Shirley personally as (for years) we were both on the PTA at the local primary school and she was key in helping to raise thousands for the school. When Kirsten Townsend stepped aside as principal dentist and handed the reins to Margarita the transition was smooth. I would like to single out Margarita for her outstanding care. My daughter has autism, epilepsy significant learning disabilities and hyperacusis. She becomes extremely anxious and distressed at dental visits especially when the sound of the cleaner/polisher is involved. Despite this, Margarita has always managed to put her at ease with a calm manner, gentle explanations, and immense patience. She understands that certain instruments can be overwhelming for my daughter, and she always adapts her approach with sensitivity and professionalism. It takes real skill to balance clinical work with the additional needs of someone who is neurologically sensitive, and Margarita does so with remarkable tenderness. Professionally, Margarita is meticulous, reassuring, and highly competent. Personally, she is warm, considerate, and clearly cares deeply about her patients. It’s disheartening to see reviews that misrepresent her character and expertise or critique her command of the English language when she was, after all, born in England! One wonders whether those leveling the criticism and throwing personal barbs, would be able to complete doctoral level degrees in two entirely different languages. Just because a person speaks with an accent that does not negate their linguistic ability especially when it’s evidently far superior to the vast majority of native English speakers. I myself speak with an American accent yet, nobody ever doubts my command of the English language. Why should that be the case with Margarita’s Venezuelan accent especially when she communicates clearly, confidently and very intelligently?
Margherita is a cosmetic dentist who does not have an eye for detail. My teeth looked nice after she’d rebuilt them but they weren’t like my teeth and severely affected my speech. I ground away during my sleep to the point I pushed my front tooth out. When I returned and asked her to reduce the height of the 2lower teeth she’d built up, she took the fillings out completely and left me with teeth which were filed down at an angle and sharp. Her and her assistant were nothing but bullies and I suspect she doesn’t understand English as well as she thinks. The receptionist ‘manager’ asked the assistant to leave the room…she refused. Not a safe dentist to go to for anyone never mind the vulnerable. I’ve recently had a stroke, dominant side paralysis, they made me feel worse about myself not better. Margarita has changed my smile, I have had a gap in my two front teeth and a chip at the bottom of one for a few years. Margarita has repaired this for me and it looks fantastic, I can smile in photos now and feel more confident. Thank you this has made a huge difference for me.
