   I ran from Tarporley up to Beeston Castle. Beeston has a long and fascinating history, built in the 1220s by Ranulf, Earl of Chester, it later became a royal stronghold, a Civil War fortress, and eventually a romantic ruin overlooking the Cheshire Plain. Crossing the drawbridge felt like stepping back in time. There was nobody else around, just me and the castle, quiet and empty. With the run there and back, the whole outing took almost three hours, but the solitude made it feel timeless.

   If visiting this brilliant ancient site, be sure to take the guided tour if offered. The guides are incredibly well informed and bring the history of the castle to vivid life. We could almost visibly see the medieval (and earlier) inhabitants gonog about their daily lives in the knowledge that they were safe inside the castle's massive walls. Definitely worth the time amd effort spent walking up to the castle.

   Stunning location and the view from the castle walls is well worth the walk. A bit loose underfoot in places so wouldn’t recommend for anyone unsure on their feet. Also some potentially big drops so children need to be watched carefully

   English heritage property in Cheshire, this year Beeston castle celebrates it's 800 year old anniversary. It's quite a steep walk up to the top of the castle but once up there the views are amazing. Half way up the hill is a round house . Plenty of parking which is free for members. Gift shop/toilets. Check the website for events .

   Friendly staff, advised us well about the routes and what was around the area. Steep hill walking up to the castle, lovely to see the castle walking up- can see for miles! Lovely woodland area, and a lot of benches dotted around--must be lovely in the spring /summer! Very dog friendly, and toilets on site. I had free entry and free parking as a English Heritage member.

   Lovely place for a walk with our 2 dogs. The woodland walk is about a mile and is generally quieter than the rest of the castle grounds. Free car park for members. The staff and volunteers are really friendly and knowledgeable and love to stop and chat! Nice little coffe shop selling snack and fresh coffee. Will always return here for a walk as it's only an hour from home!

   On a typically British rainy and sunny week day this was a great place to visit. The history of Beeston castle is fascinating and the remaining ruins of the outer walls and castle itself are intriguing and fun to explore. Incredible views of surrounding counties and cities from the castle - it's clear why they built it here! Wear good shoes and invest in the guide book for historical facts.

   Lovely afternoon at Beeston Castle. Easy to find with a good sized cat park. It's okay and display which takes coins (£3 for the whole day) But if you only have a card you can pay for it at the visitors shop. Then it's £10 an per adult to get in. There are family tickets but don't remember the price. Well worth the money though for the views from the top. Very well kept area with good clear pathways. Don't forget to look at the roundhouse too that's been excellently reconstructed and take the woodland walk round the inner edge of the castle which leads you to some caves. Lots of benches round and about to sit down and take in the view or if you fancy having some time to sit and read a book. Great few hours spent taking in the scenery.

   Really lovely day out. Nice little walk up to the castle itself. Once you get up there the views are beautiful on a clear day. My girlfriend and I had a picnic up there and then there is also a trail around the surrounding wall that took about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace. We then went to the cafe beside the entrance and had a coffee and ice-cream. Highly recommend for a day trip out.
