   - Reuploaded as my review was deleted! - I had a full head of highlights done here in April, and it was great, which is why I came back in June for the exact same service. Unfortunately, the second visit was a completely different story. Despite paying for a *full head*, I received what looked more like a half head of highlights — stripy, patchy, and applied far from the root. I didn’t get that fresh, blended “just done” look at all. When I complained, I was asked to come back so they could fix it. I phoned at 9am on a Saturday to confirm they could see me, was told yes, travelled an hour to get there, only to be told they had *no space* after all. No apology. Entire Saturday wasted. I rebooked for the following Saturday as I can’t attend during the week. The stylist was friendly, but I made the request very clear several times: a full head of blonde highlights, fix the areas missed last time, no stripes, and applied as close to the root as possible. I raised concerns during the appointment that the highlights didn’t look close enough to the root and was told it would “spread while developing.” In the salon, the finished result looked fine. At home, however, it became obvious that “close to the root” is not something this salon gets right. Harsh stripes again, colour blocks, and multiple tones. The “day-one” result looked like what my hair normally looks like after four weeks at other salons. In total, this cost me three weekends and still left me with subpar results. It feels like the focus is on making hair look good under salon lighting, not on delivering quality work or listening to customers’ concerns. A personable attitude is appreciated, but it doesn’t make up for poor technique.

   I have been going to shapes for a few years. Last week I was extremely unhappy with my hair cut. (There was no discussion re how much of my hair would be shaved.)I phoned shapes, and was given a no quibble refund. In addition was invited to come in the salon free of charge. I am obviously upset about my hair, but thanks to the fantastic customer service, I will continue to visit and recommend shapes. Also when I have had a colour done, it has always been really good. We'll done shapes for making a difficult situation better.
