A pleasure as always seeing Symone. Tricky to find a stylist that you’re 100% comfortable with and I’m so glad to have found one! The general attentiveness in the salon is also very welcomed and a breath of fresh air! Super happy with my cut and colour and the head massage was obviously a welcomed treat x
My experience with blow drying wasn't great. While the operation itself is easy, unfortunately, my hair did not turn out well after blow drying.
My initial experience here wasn’t great.. because my haircut did not turn out well at all. The layers looked like two completely different parts and did not blend at all. I did not notice until after I washed and styled my own hair how it turned out. Well I reached out to the salon and they quickly reached out to me to resolve the situation. I did not want to get the young girl in trouble but it really was something I had to let them know so it does not happen to anyone else in the future. They assured me they’d just make sure she received the proper feedback necessary to improve her skills going forward. While my experience at first wasn’t great and I was not happy with my hair the way the salon reached out and resolved this has made me feel better about what type of business this is. I’m hesitant to leave this review, as I was seen by a stylist who was very kind to me. However, I think it’s important so that other people who have similar hair to me don’t have the same experience. I rang the salon in advance and specifically asked if they had a stylist who was confident in cutting 3b/very curly, short, Caribbean hair. I was told that, yes, there was a stylist who had enough experience and training to do this. When I get to the appointment, it becomes very clear that she doesn’t have experience with this type of hair, and she proceeds to wash/style it in an entirely unsuitable manner. It was cut when it was wet, not enough product was used, and then a hairdryer without a diffuser; all of these things led to me getting a … pretty bad haircut to say the least. I ended up shaving my head because I disliked it so much, and it was so difficult to style. I’m not writing this to shame the hairdresser, but it’s worth noting that I shelled out over £50 to have someone who was not trained cut my hair.
I had Highlights, tone and a hair mask done by the talented Alejandro and I couldn't be better pleased. He took the time to ask all the right questions to make sure he understood what my expectations were and presented me alternatives of how they could be met. He executed the concept we agreed on flawlessly, explaining to me what was going on at every stage and checking I'd be happy with the progress. He took care of the health of my hair at all times. I'm left with an evenly saturated head of highlights that fall randomly in all the right places. My hair is picture perfect from every angle. Tons of depth and movement! The most thorough and professional service and results I've ever had, and I've had my mane bleached and toned for more than 15 years in different countries! I wholeheartedly reccomend Alejandro at Medusa in Teviot Place.
