Had time to spare and Wandered in for a haircut. The bloke who cut my hair did a fabulous job. Best cut I’ve had in years. Enjoyed the conversation. Will return when I’m in Edinburgh again.

Just moved here and I'm delighted this barber shop is close by! Got an excellent mullet cut for a great price! The owner is great chat too! And the place looks cool!

Great place to get a hair cut! Been going now a year and half. Walk ins welcomed, but wait can be a bit long sometimes. You can schedule a hair cut/beard trim using the Nearcut app. When I find a good barber, I stick with them—and these guys do a great job. The shop has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after work. You get some good conversation and, most importantly, a quality haircut and beard trim.

Best barbershop in Edinburgh Was seen by a top-notch young man named Alex who gave me the best cut I’ve had in a long time. All the guys are great people with great chat. The owner’s dog hangs about the shop which would make it a 6 out of 5 stars if google would let me. Will definitely be heading back there again!

Old review from Sep 2021. I really wanted to like this place but my experience ended up being terrible. I have curly hair (Northern African) and they made a mess of it. I asked for a fade but when I pointed out that there was tuft of hair at the crown that was not properly cut and that they made my hairline unequal (almost half a cm difference), I was told that it was the nature of my hair! I have never heard that before and I have had a few haircuts in my lifetime including cutting my own hair. It still frustrates me how they gaslighted me instead of acknowledging their lack of experience and mistake. I have since found a Turkish barbershop and had no issues. It took me a while to post this review as I actually thought they could be right. Also, I have never posted a negative review before and this feels weird. I am not posting this for the apology and will not be returning. I just wanted to warn others with similar hair.

Gave them a ring to book a haircut and he asked me to come down for 13:30, waited till 13:45 to be seated, no problem for me, I was in no rush. Asked for a skin fade and to ‘just leave the top how it is’, got a reply from the barber saying I should’ve said what I wanted on the phone as it takes too long and he had appointments after me. Rather strange, slightly rude comment to make considering he’s running 15 minutes late… After finishing the back and sides, the barber started to cut the top of my hair and was too late to stop, I wasn’t best pleased, but hey ho it’ll grow back I suppose. After he was finished and I got a look at the finished cut, I realised I had been given a bit of an ice gem style on the top, not really what I was after in all honestly. Was then charged £20 for the haircut which for me seems pricey considering the area and service. Barber had some decent chat and the dog was friendly. Won’t be rushing back in afraid.

I have been going to the Barbershop Edinburgh for over four years, not long after it opened, and have seen the shop evolve over those years. In that time I have gone back every three to four weeks to get a cut from Michael, every time we have had a great chat and he has always been friendly to me throughout. He may at first seem like a big tough guy but he is genuinely a kind, fair and patient man who has helped me try a variety of haircuts which were all done to a high standard. I wish the shop and Michael all the best. I would strongly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a good chat and a cut! Ps Coco (the dog) is a great companion while you wait!
