Our group of 12 had a family lunch booked at The Quarter Gill in Glasgow for 3pm on Saturday 29th. Several of us had travelled significant distances, including one family member from Cardiff so this meal was intended to be a rare and meaningful opportunity for us to spend time together. Unfortunately, the experience left us stunned and beyond disappointed. When it came to ordering, one member of our group, who is vegan stated that she did not want the breaded veggie burger and asked instead for an alternative vegan option. Despite this, she was served the very item she had specifically mentioned a dislike to. When she raised the issue, the waitress disputed the conversation entirely, denying that the request had ever been made. She then removed the burger from the plate using a napkin, which felt not only unprofessional but also unhygienic. It showed a worrying lack of attentiveness and care toward dietary requirements. Throughout the next hour the overall atmosphere created by the staff was unwelcoming. Simple requests, for example, asking for additional dips or sauce sachets were met with visible irritation. As customers, it was uncomfortable to feel as though we were inconveniencing staff simply by asking for basic items. The most upsetting part occurred at the end of our visit. At around 4:45pm, only 1 hour and 45 minutes after our booking began, we were abruptly asked to leave. No proper explanation was given. Instead, vague and unsubstantiated comments were made about our party being “cheeky,” without any clarification. This accusation was completely untrue. Being asked to leave without a valid reason was unfair, embarrassing, and deeply unprofessional. This situation was particularly distressing given that it coincided with Glasgow’s Christmas Lights Switch-On, meaning nearby venues were fully booked. As a result, our family, who had travelled from various parts of the UK, had nowhere else to continue our long-planned gathering. Overall, the experience left us not only disappointed but genuinely concerned about how future guests may be treated at The Quarter Gill. Reading other reviews, it seems these issues may not be isolated incidents. Based on our (brief) experience, we would not recommend The Quarter Gill to anyone. We sincerely hope that management takes this feedback seriously, as meaningful change is clearly needed to ensure that no other family has their long-awaited day spoiled in the way ours was.

Steak pie recommended worth a visit especially at this time of the year, though the bar takes a card the food/kitchen are cash only only downside and their are no signs for this on the menu or signed mot great.

I hate to be writing this as I’ve been a regular here over the years and always had an amazing time but my experience on Saturday night is the worst I’ve ever experienced in any establishment. A lady of low virtue shall we say who was clearly drunk beyond belief made a baseless accusation about me ‘stealing her vape’ for no reason even though I’ve never seen her or spoke to her. She was just off her face on booze and drugs. I had a couple of beers and was in completely sane mind, I spoke to the bar staff who were helpful and could see she was lying due to the state she was in. Couple of bouncers approached us as she was being aggressive towards me saying she would throttle me and order her boyfriend to attack me as well, I was calm throughout the whole situation. Anyway I explained to bouncer again I had not stolen any vape, I even emptied my pockets etc and showed there was no vape there proving my innocence beyond doubt. Big bouncer replied ‘thanks for that then you can leave now’ as if I’d done something wrong? I politely explained to him that it wasn’t right she makes a false allegation, is proven to be a liar and threatens violence but I’m the one that gets chucked out? He then without warning screamed in my face and manhandled me, dragging me out of the pub and damaging my polo shirt, ripping it. I was scared and really thought I was in danger. I managed to take a picture of him outside and I told him I’d be reporting him to SIA which I have done. Further to this I learned the lady in question later on in the evening sexually assaulted my friend and only then did she get chucked out. This man doesn’t need sacked, he needs locking up. He was violent and assaulted me for no reason without warning and he’s lucky I’m only reporting this to yourselves and SIA and not the Police. I really hope this problem is dealt with swiftly as I enjoy QG and had some amazing times there over the years. But you simply cannot assault people without consequence. This arrogant thug is a disgrace to your establishment and shouldn’t be allowed to hold a license.

Smashing pub, lovely friendly staff. Food was excellent (especially steak pie)and the atmosphere was brilliant. Prices were surprising for a west end pub too, very cheap compared to Byars road pubs.
