   I’ve been coming to this wine shop regularly over the past years and really appreciate the fantastic range they offer — from wines and beers to non-alcoholic options. Whether I know exactly what I want or feel like trying something new, I usually leave with something interesting and enjoyable. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and most of the staff are knowledgeable and approachable, which is why it’s become my go-to place for picking up a bottle or two. However, I had a less than satisfactory experience this evening that I felt was worth sharing. I came in looking for a sweet wine and approached a staff member for some guidance. I picked up a Sicilian wine from the sweet wine section and asked whether it was a port and if it was sweet. Their response was short and dismissive — a flat “yes it’s sweet, no it’s not port,” without any effort to clarify or help me find what I might actually be looking for. There was no engagement, no follow-up questions, and overall the tone felt more like a brush-off than an interaction with a customer. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a similarly off-putting experience with this particular staff member. I don’t take writing reviews like this lightly, but I believe in supporting local businesses through honest feedback. It’s not clear if this is just their communication style or if it was simply a bad day, but it does affect the experience enough to make me hesitant about returning when they’re on shift. I want to emphasise that I really do like this shop and most of the team. I’m sharing this in the hope it’s taken as constructive feedback — a small reminder of how important tone, curiosity, and care are, especially for a local shop that prides itself on helping people explore something as nuanced and personal as wine.

   I don't even live nearby anymore and still consider it one of the best in the city, maybe the best. The wine, beer and cider stock is excellent. The wines in particular are very well selected, and the prices are very reasonable.
