Ever so slightly more expensive for items I wanted compared to some England based companies but worth it due to personal interaction via chat ( phones were down) with Alex, next day delivery by a reliable courier and to support a local business.
Always keep an excellent selection of non alcoholic beers. Friendly, passionate about what they do and really know their stuff.
Is this the best wine merchant in the UK? Very possibly! An excellent selection of fine wines, well priced. I ordered Saturday night; my wine arrived Monday morning, with no charge for mailing. I am delighted!
Highly recommend this gem of a company: found a particular French red wine online with them that I'd had at a lovely French restuarant on a visit to Edinburgh at a very good price. The delivery to the Highlands was through a courier company - the courier company fluffed-up with the delivery, but the team at The Fine Wine Company stepped in & all was resolved. Received my items very well packaged, safe & sound. Absolutely fantastic customer service, delicious wine & terrific prices. Thank you so much!

A great range of products including some fantastic wines and spirits. The team are very friendly and have deep knowledge. I wanted a good wine as a birthday gift and they took time to understand my budget and tastes before making some careful recommendations.
They always manage to surprise us with the range - and the quality - of the beer, wine and amazing cheeses they hold. Every visit is an adventure. Good laugh with the guys too. Such an asset to Portobello, and Edinburgh.
Imagine calling up to ask a question about purchasing a few cases of wine and perhaps an additional bottle (to try) to be barked at about there being 9000 lines of wine and some are kept somewhere else... No discussion. No interest. No realisation that was a sales call & now a lost order which you'll never know the value of. Whoever answered the phone today should probably not be answering phones. No problem, I'll take my business somewhere else.
I’m a regular customer to The Fine Wine Company. As well as a great range of fine wines (as you’d expect), the shop stocks fine cheese (less expected but what a brilliant idea!) AND a really interesting range of beers too. Alex, the owner, really knows his stuff, not to mention being always up for a blether. As a wee side note, I couldn’t help but notice the critical review below regarding Covid guidance- as a regular customer, I have to say I’ve been impressed by how this small shop has managed this- clearly signed at the door, with staff quickly and politely ensuring that the guidelines are adhered to. And yes, there is hand sanitiser at the till too!
