We booked the Olive Tree for a family celebration for 28 people. The food and service was excellent throughout. The whole of the downstairs was reserved for us. We had a number of special requests including a member of the group who was severely coeliac. The attention to detail from Louise and Petra to ensure that all requirements were met was excellent. The food was high quality and the meal was good value for money. I would recommend the Olive Tree without hesitation.

Omg that was quite possibly the best sunday roast I've had for a very long time. The gravy was awesome, the vegetables divine, the meat perfectly cooked. The potatoes. Omg the potatoes. I have no idea what they were cooked in and unfortunately neither did the waiters but they were immense. Crunchy, delicious so so good. Was full to popping and then they brought out the dessert menu. And it just had to be done. If I had one suggestion it would be to have the staff try the food for free just so they can give an educated guidance on their preferences. They were very good staff but without being allowed to try the food they can't give recommendations.

The Olive Tree Restaurant in Wells I visited the beautiful Wells Cathedral and the outdoor market over the weekend during lunch. I stopped by the Olive Tree without a reservation, but the lady was very accommodating. The restaurant looks nice and inviting. The menu is interesting, and the food is delicious. My friends were very happy, and we had a lovely time there. I will definitely visit again if I am in the area.

I have dined here before which was nice, but I had the worst Sunday roast in my life last Sunday. The beef was so chewy that I could not swallow a single bite. The Yorkshire pudding and roasted potatoes were not particularly great. Customer service was appalling. It left me broken, bitter and reconsidering my life choices. A birthday lunch very much ruined.

The portions are a bit presumptuous: bhaji 8 pounds for few slices of onion. Nibbles: 3 tiny slices of reheated focaccia and oil 4.5 I think it was. Papardelle: tasteless, big portion completely bland. There is a Michelin guide restaurant just in front of this one and it seems like they copied the prices but not the quality. Service charge is optional but already included in the bill, the lady explains it to you but you have been already billed. It makes more sense to leave the customer the option by selecting in during card payment.

I have severe allergies and the team catered for me and took it seriously. Never felt calmer eating somewhere- they even created a meal for me that wasn't on the menu! Desserts and drinks were fabulous! Will 100% be back

Chef certainly can cook! The food was really delicious. Service for a table of six was prompt and attentive and all meals arrived together and hot. Everything was cooked to perfection. My dish, the hake and beef ox, melted on my tongue, I'd definitely order that again. All my guests enjoyed their menu choices. The restaurant itself was comfortable, busy but not too loud and not over heated. I would certainly recommend a visit.

A great find and a great meal. Very friendly and attentive service. A well considered menu of classic dishes, with a twist, cooked & presented perfectly. We enjoyed the sea bass and beef short rib. Desserts were good too: passion fruit cheesecake and a very buttery tarte tartin. Short wine list that covers most tastes. Very good and highly recommended.

What an amazing restaurant experience we had here. We were a bit worried that there were not many reviews but took a chance and went one evening whilst we were in Wells. It is a new restaurant and I suspect the locals want to keep it quiet because it is so good! We didn't book but on arrival found that the restaurant was quite full (so will book next time!). Managed to get a table in the kitchen, which was good for us as we like the theatre involved in cooking. Just two chefs cooking for the entire establishment, but they did a fantastic job. Our Scallops with Black Pudding were perfect, as was the Braised Beef with veg. For pud I had Apple Tart Tatin and my better half had White Chocolate Cheesecake, both of which were was also excellent. The starter was washed down with a glass of Rose and the main with a glass of the Merlot. Again, the wines were excellent. The whole meal was "Historic" (to paraphrase a certain food critic). Certainly the best we have had in Wells. This restaurant is a gem, the jewel in the Wells restaurant crown. Not to be missed. Book ahead and have a historic night!!!!

Best roast dinner in the area by a long mile. We had a family Sunday lunch at the Olive tree last weekend. Perfectly cooked food, great deserts at a great price. A great addition to Wells and will definitely be back again and again
