Not even one star is deserved. A dirty place with completely unacceptable owners. We stayed for 6 days and the room was never cleaned. There was mold and spider webs everywhere. On top of that, the walls were so thin that at 3 a.m. we could hear people laughing and another guy snoring clearly. No matter how cheap a room is ( and this one actually wasn’t, it was just average for the city )cleanliness is a basic requirement and has nothing to do with money. I honestly hope this place shuts down, because everything about it is unacceptable and the people managing it are terrible.

The room had several problems, such as mold on the walls and cobwebs. Also, the bathroom floor moves as if there is a gap underneath. Furthermore, after midnight at 3:32 in the morning some other tenants were shouting and laughing nonstop. I had informed the managers and they did nothing. I also informed the property through Booking app about the other problems I mentioned, and they did not fix them. This accommodation is extremely dangerous for peoples health.

The only good thing I can say is the location is great and provided easy access to get into town. Aside from that, everything else was such a let down. We booked a family room which was supposed to include things such as a microwave, fridge and a seating area, standard items for a family room. When we entered, there was no microwave or fridge and the "seating area" was a single chair (which in itself was quite dirty with stains on it) next to a coffee table. The beds were super uncomfortable to the point that some of us were just sleeping on a box of springs, meaning every slight movement set off a couple of the springs. The room itself was dirty and looked like it hadnt been cleaned properly in a long time with marks all over the walls and dust caking the floors under the beds. A backpackers would be a lot cleaner and offer more, including hot showers which the one in our room didn't work properly at all. It was either hot or cold with no in between. Not to mention that I found mould near the ceiling next to the bathroom. I also noticed in the bathroom that the toilet seat was so much smaller than the toilet itself, meaning we were practically sitting on the bowl every time we used it. Not to mention that the sink itself had a big crack in it. We tried to contact the owner but received an automated response, not to mention that the only time we saw a staff member was as we were checking out. We helped out a few other people with checking in and finding their way around as there was no one there 99% of the time. For a place thats a 3-star hotel, it doesn't feel like it deserves that. If you're looking in the area, I recommend looking elsewhere.

It depends. If you're lucky and you get a good mattress. I've stayed here in two occasions. It was for of us sharing a room everyday. First just one night. My mattress was good and I had a good rest. The second time we stayed for two nights, my mattress was ok on one side, but the other was full of springs sticking in my back. I couldn't sleep with my partner. I had to find some other way. This is not so good .... It's quite clean and it has a small fridge, a microwave, a kettle and all necessary to make yourself a tea or a coffee. That's really great. The first time we had our own bathroom, but the second we had to share a toilet and shower which is out of the room. This is not so good. .... There's no physical person waiting for you. To get in etc you need a code. To get your room key another code. Numbers... .... It's quite well located, not in the centre but very near different bus stops. ... Fares are quite expensive. Life in general is very expensive in Scotland for a European. ... You need to hire a car to move around the Kingdom. Sharing makes it a bit cheaper. Buying food at supermarkets like Lidl also helps. .... But for four people, looking for most reasonable prices,(Ryanair), sharing all expenses, sharing lodgings, etc, you can't make it for less than one thousand pounds each, a trip of seven days. Four thousand pounds the for of us. That's some £144 a day for each of us.

We arrived at the PVHH, to find out that we had a Souterrain room, which was seriously gross. There is no problem with a room being simple or a little older but this was just terrible. Decided to leave after 5mins, because we couldn’t imagine to stay there over night and got another hotel room at an Holiday Inn.

When we arrived here our room was off the main hotel, we had to come out of the main hotel to get into our what I can only describe as a prefab style porter cabin! Being December it was freezing! When we got inside it wasn’t much warmer than outside! We were given a small portable heater that we literally had to be glued to!! Don’t expect anyone to greet you either! If you need anything nobody can be found! You have to figure out where your room is from an email they will send you. To top it all off I seen a mouse run across the floor of the main hotel. Very run down and grubby! €300 for 2 nights absolute robbery!

My friends and I were a bit concerned after reading the many negative reviews of this hotel. However, we had an absolutely delightful time. Our room was perfectly clean, the beds were sleepable (with no bed bugs), the water pressure was great, and the neighborhood was NOT sketchy. (The park is quite lovely and there were many good restaurants and pubs in the area.) This is a great option for anybody (especially students) who are looking for an affordable hotel in Edinburgh. It’s located right by a bus stop that will take you wherever you want to go. There was no blood on the walls, no pubic hair on the toilet seat, and we have not encountered even a single staff member. There are many clean towels if you just open your eyes and look. Paradise! We would live here if we could, and we will not be taking the legal route (only possibly to purchase this hotel). Sincerely, the annoying Americans in the basement P.S. This review may be comical, but it is serious and truthful.

Cheap accommodation that does little but provide the basics. Room clean enough but was nothing special. Reasonable self check in, although some other guests were struggling. Our room was in an extension in the car park so you had to go through the building to access it or down a scruffy back lane. Furniture was of average quality and you could see some pieces had been recovered from a much grander location and repurposed. Location was good however and as a base for seeing the area suited us well. For the price I would've expected an awful lot more (more expensive than a Holiday Inn with gym/pool and breakfast we'd stayed in near Glasgow a couple of nights beforehand) Wouldn't return unless no other choices and would look around for alternatives further afield than stay here again
