I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at this hotel. The male staff member at the reception who was on duty at night behaved extremely rudely and unprofessionally with us. His attitude felt discriminatory and racist, which is completely unacceptable in the hospitality industry. As guests, we expected basic respect and decent behaviour, but instead we were made to feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Such behaviour seriously damages the reputation of the hotel. I strongly recommend that hotel management take strict action, provide proper staff training, and ensure that no guest is ever treated this way again. I would not recommend staying here unless these issues are addressed.

I stay for one night, but the bed is unsafe, there is some screw that sticks out in the bunk bed stairs. It scratch me and make me bled for quite some time and the hostel only provide ONE band-aid, and an antiseptic that i have to use in the lobby. The staff busy doing something else, not even a question about my well-being when i apply the antiseptic. After that they don’t even remove the screw and solve the problem so i have to put some wet tissue in the sticking out screw by myself. It is not a good and safe experience, I should sue this hostel.

This was one of the worst hostels I’ve ever stayed at. The room genuinely smelled disgusting and the sheets and towel stank like they were unwashed. The facilities were also dirty with the exception of the kitchen. The location was terrible tooβ€”far from city center and in a very quiet and remote area. The front desk did not have a first aid kit in the case of an emergency and the receptionist took forever to open the door when we first arrived. Please save your money and stay in a better hostel!

We stayed there for 2 nights ; one in a private bedroom that was nice and the second in a dorm that had everything you expect from a good hostel. Everything was clean, sheets smelled good and we saw every morning the staff clean the toilets and the showers that were clean. The paintings outside the dorms walls were really funny and you could feel the mood invested in the place. We had a great welcoming from the staff that took the time to talk a little bit with us and to answer our questions. We would recommend this place for a hostel stay in Edinburgh!

This renovated church is in a nice area of town, and the location itself is very unique/pretty. I can't speak for the shared dorms but the private room I got was perfect for my needs. Shoutout to Ollie at the front desk for being great to talk to and give me and my friend recommendations.

Once all hostels in Edinburgh were fully booked in a city so I went to them and ask for a room for 3 nights every thing went good till a guy on the reception asked me for a card number to put it on the system just in case I’ll louse it they will charge me 20Β£. I said to him that I don’t use a card I’m on Apple Pay. So he said that I can’t stay, so I told him to charge me now for it because I have no place to go he rejected my request and left me on the street….

Booked 3 beds in a 4 bed dorm for me and 2 girlfriends and when we arrived was told one will be in another shared room alone. Wasn’t happy after booking 3 beds together so kindly asked if we could be moved together. The manager was overly pretentious and made us feel uncomfortable for asking to move. Girl on reception told us it’s not guaranteed you’ll be together which I’ve never known hostels to split groups up. They still gave 2 extra people the key for our room who walked in the middle of the night when there was only 1 bed left so they are clearly very unorganised with the bedding situation. We had a spare bed in our room for 2 out of our 3 nights so clearly we could have been together from the start. The manager kept letting himself in without knocking also to check the spare bed. Could hear reception talking about us from downstairs and staff generally miserable people would not return.

Beds are pretty small and the rooms are of course cramped, the showerd are on the contrary pretty fancy, the amount of toilets are also plenty. It isnt the prettiest place to stay though and you can see lots of exposed pipes and wires.

The rooms are really cold, heat from the heater doesn't circulate. The bathrooms are gross, including the showers. The kitchen/communal space seemed nice. The walls are thin and between that and the skylight in our room, we could hear other conversations of other people word for word. Door locks were very janky trying to get in/out of the doors. The building and the idea was cool and the paintings on the walls in the halls are amazing but it doesn't make up for how unkempt it seems to be. Front desk staff weren't always friendly. It's pretty far away from things of interest (25+ min walk to the castle for instance). The distance isn't unbearable but not great either. Would not stay here again.

Stayed for five days here while I explored Edinburgh and had a lovely time, looked forward to returning each evening as the atmosphere was friendly, peaceful and home-like. I stayed in a private room with a double bunk that looked out onto a small stone courtyard; the accommodation was clean and and I was warm as they just put in new heating units. Bathroom was shared, but not far from my room and always clean. The people I met, staff, volunteers and travelers were all inviting and kind; people gravitate towards the kitchen so there is nice community in the late mornings and evenings. Also! The aesthetics of this once church hostel are worth a stay just to see, very camp.
