Awesome staff (especially mike) and a very cozy experience altogether especially for the price only bad thing i can say about it is its a bit far from the center but you can take a single bus to get you there in 15min
Very good price and good location for cheap prices. A hostel is a hostel so there are lot of problems but still for this amount of money. Its good place for short stays. They have their own parking. Toilets, showers, kitchen and lobby.
I've visited the hostel just off Leith walk in Edinburgh. Just a number 11 away from the city centre for only £2. The hostel has the use of bikes for the residents. Although they weren't available for us at the time of our stay this time but the first time I couldn't fault the manager who work hard to keep the place running the the best of her ability. Very welcoming the facilities are clean and tidy and maintained well on a daily basis. Kitchen always clean and tidy. Be aware that the electric is on a timer and shuts of at 8pn up to 10pm depending on use at the time of season. Due to fire safety. The rooms can get stuffy if the rooms are occupied by the compasity due to body heat rising get the bottom bunk. Or if your tall get the top bunk if you want privacy then the middle bunk is good for putting your bath towel up to close out light from other guests. No accounting for other people. Don't blame the staff unless it's a problem with the hostel they're only human. Enjoy your stay we'll be there to say hello
Beautiful quaint hostel in a great area of the city. Free street parking right out front of the hostel. When I checked in, I realized someone had taken my bed, and when I contacted James (property manager/owner, I’m not sure which) he immediately contacted me back and came by at 11:30 PM instead of enjoying his night out to ensure I had a clean, comfortable place to stay. Overall, great experience, and a great place to stay, even includes laundry which most hostels I’ve been to so far don’t have. I spent one night in this hostel and only good thing I can say about this hostel is location. The owner straight up lies about conditions of the facility. First of all room me and my girlfriend were staying supposed to be 36 m2 (9 beds inside), unfortunately it was probably around 10 m2 if not less. So it was really crammed. Not to mention bunk beds for 3 people, that you could not even sit in. I got assigned the middle bed that with my height was almost impossible to climb onto. I can't imagine how an older person or someone with mobility issues would be able to manage with that. There is no privacy there, the size of the room lets you look everyone in the eyes while lying in bed. In addition the bed lights are not working. Now this only starts the series of things that don't work or exist. Kitchen is not functional, while there is sign that it is currently under construction, I don't see any changes since the photos posted on google reviews 9 months ago. The hob is not working, the ceiling is falling apart, the trash is pouring out of the bin. There is no space to relax, no couches only rather uncomfortable cheap looking chairs, this is especially bothersome when you can't even sit on your bed. There is actually no space at all, not only rooms are small, the whole facility is tightly packed, for 4 rooms with total of 42 beds there is around 10 chairs in the kitchen and other room with coffee machine. Because the rooms are so small there is no place to store any of your belongings there. The only place for that are small lockers that we struggled to close with our one day stay luggage (normal sized backpacks) and some groceries. To complete this recollection of rather unpleasant experience I can't leave out the owner of this establishment. As my girlfriend checked out of the hostel, she left on booking dot com mixed review of the hostel listing all the things said above. It was not mean or straight up hate. Unfortunately the owner can not take the criticism and responded with insults and really childish cheesy comments. He blamed her for not doing enough research of what she booked. This is extremely embarrassing thing to say while lying about every single aspect of the conditions of the facility. I do not recommend this hostel at any circumstances. Thank you for your time.
For the value we spend, it's more than worth it. The only downside, the rooms doesn't have proper ventilation and air within rooms is not fresh and smells little stinky.
In the outskirts! Edinburgh city centre is 30 mins by cab. No entrance signs/boards. Very small bedrooms. Couldn't get good vibes!
Stayed here during a very busy period, during Edinburgh fringe. Staff were lovely and organised, facilities are super clean and beds were comfy. Perfect place for a short stay, can’t complain :)
Awesome stay place. It’s a little difficult to find this place as you have go little inside the lane to find the house. Nice cosy bunk beds, not suffocating ( I thought it would be suffocating as there are 3 bunk beds). James, the owner is very friendly and helped us setting up things. He informed it’s a new place. Clean washrooms, hot showers, clean towels, coffee-tea, microwave available. Passcodes for everything so that your stay is safe and secure. Lockers available for valuables.
9 beds in a small room is way too many. No place to put your stuff. My room door didn't lock. Beds were not changed when I arrived at 4:00 PM. No common area whatsoever, Showers are great but was partly clogged. They are trying to squeeze too much out of the place. Not a good experience.
