Rooms were clean and cosy, the TV had no sound restrictions (which is a rarity), the terrace bar is perfectly chill and great vibes for couples (staff were also super friendly and professional), and you can store your luggage away in secure lockers if needed at no charge. Hard to be served at the reception bar even when there were no customers - on the final day i had to wait around for 5-10 minutes to wait for a staff member to turn up. There seemed to be some friction between certain staff members as well which made the vibes at the bar on our second night awkward. The walls may be soundproof but the flooring definitely is not - I struggled to sleep due to the loud footsteps in the room above. The rooms could also do with adding an extra blanket if needed as the duvets provided are not warm enough.

For the most people I expect no issues, but personally I was expecting more for listed 4-star hotel in price range almost 300 pounds. The location was great β€” I could walk to most interesting spots in 15–30+ minutes. Breakfast quality was quite good, TV stream ok. Basic cleaning was done daily, room size was okay, good curtains, USB ports to charge devices, and a grocery store next door. Luggage storage was nice option. Miss hotel gym as I wasn't aware there's any. Several disappointing details, I noticed small piece of plastic trash next to the bed that stayed there for my entire 3-day stay. Towels were replaced but tea cups weren’t. Wi-Fi speed was only around 6 Mbps on the first floor. There was a constant low noise from the ventilation even AC was turned off during night, and ceiling vibrating when someone walked in the room above. The bathroom was tiny, with towels hanging almost over the toilet, and the window was dirty from construction site on the street which looks to be finished soon. No real storage space, just hangers, and the mattress was quite uncomfortable, it never felt like I was lying straight. Breakfast area was crowded and small, with missing cups or food quite often and slow refills. Two coffee machines weren’t working later during breakfast for example. The bar area looked stylish but wasn’t really comfortable to sit at for breakfast. The most annoying part: my card was pre-authorized on check-in with full amount plus Β£30 per night which I don't mind and was told damage fee reservation will be released in a few days β€” but whole amount stayed blocked for 15 days. On the last day, hotel charged my card again for the full amount (bank exchange rate even worse, why can't pay on first day really :( ), I ended up with a negative balance and couldn’t pay elsewhere. Never had that happen in any other hotel. So be aware to have more than twice amount you expect to pay on your card including your bank exchange rate.

Honestly some of these other reviews are wildin’ on here. People are mad that they can’t go on vacation in their own house. Our stay at this Moxy was quite lovely, and far better than some other locations in which I have been to! To me the space is perfect, well organized, and easy to hang things as per the set up. Bathroom is adequate with good water pressure. Hotel was surprisingly quiet and bed comfy. The attitude of the staff was nothing but helpful, professional, and very accommodating. I would recommend to stay here at this location for value of the stay. BONUS points for Halloween decor. You guys nailed it

A great stay. Rooms are a bit small, but completely functional. Otherwise, the hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The hotel let us check in super early after arriving from a long day of travel, which was very appreciated. About a 10 minute walk from the tram, and an easy 1 mile walk to the centre of Edinburgh.

A no fuss hotel near the railway station and the major tourist attractions. The bus stop is right opposite the hotel and makes it really accessible from everywhere. The rooms were spacious and the staff was helpful too. The welcome drink was good too! Though we wish the views from the room were great too, it leaves much to be desired.

One size, budget rooms which are actually just enough for one person, not two. Could have much more storage space in there too. There’s no room service. Rooftop bar we did not get to see as closed on Sundays and Mondays and after 10 or 11. Bar, breakfast and location are alright.

I absolutely loved this place. I've stayed at several different moxy hotels and this place has the best buts from all the others. The lounge is very comfortable and it's layout is great for socializing or having a smaller private hang out. Although the bar tender in the main street level lounge was clearly new, she was doing her best and very personable. I had a toastie from their bar menu and it was good, but there's several restaurants nearby that are exceptional. I just didn't feel up to leaving the hotel. I also went to the rooftop lounge and it was impressive, an excellent rooftop patio, very good for a romantic date night or drinks with close friends. Excellent liquor selection and bartenders. The rooms are very near perfect, I particularly appreciated the motion activated night lights. I'll certainly be staying here again.

Nice hotel, very good bed and very silent rooms. Rooms are basic but clean and neat. You have everything you need, a nice bathroom with good shower and a hairdryer. Also a nice TV with casting possibilities so you can watch your Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime. The breakfast is good, but make sure you go early or you will not get much as capacity is limited during the peak hours. Bar staff is friendly but they should clean the bar a little more often, it wasn’t always that clean.

A cool, funky and comfortable hotel. Good location for the city - everything just a few minutes walk away. Recently built when we were there, it was all very clean and tidy. Good sized rooms with all you’d expect in terms of facilities. Staff sometimes a little slow but friendly enough. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food. Make sure you get your complimentary cocktail on the day you arrive.
