Blankets are too small. 5 ft (155cm). Mattress is also too short (I'm 6 ft) and made of bad foam that is low in the middle. Worst sleep of any hostel I've ever been at. Keypads don't work well, the touchpad buttons frequently don't sense it when you press them. And they beep loudly in the hall as people keep entering the wrong codes on accident. No real electrical outlets in the "pod," just USB!?? This place is kind of a scam. For double the price of a normal hostel bed in the city, everything is worse. The bathroom is good. Location is good.

The hostel is located in a fantastic area. It's a short walk from Waverly station and the attractions including the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Victoria Street, and the museum's to name a few. There are a ton of restaurants, bars and shops to explore. My issue with the hostel was the cleanliness of the bathrooms/showers. The showers had mold all along the bottom. As well, the it's one toilet per floor. The rooms were clean but you can hear all the noise from the street (next door to a pub), people walking up and down the stairs and using the keypad. The room also gets very hot, but there are mini fans which help.

The place and rooms look nothing like the photos. It does not feel clean at all. There are stains on blankets, curtains, etc… the beds a very uncomfortable and feels old. The building feels industrial with no personality, definitely not cozy or welcoming. They use a code for everything and sometimes they dont even work… Would bot come back here!

There are no power sockets in the bunks, just USB ports. If I had known this, I likely would have picked somewhere else to stay, as I use a medical device every night which requires power. I luckily had a battery for it, but it felt risky leaving the battery worth hundreds out to charge, which means I probably spent more time in the room than I would have otherwise. I also wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with muscle weakness or difficulty with stairs. The front door is very difficult to open, and there is no lift. However, the bunks feel very private and they supply free towels, soap, tea, and laundry powder for the singular free washing machine onsite. The place is clean and safe, and in an excellent location.

(Solo female traveller) This was my first experience using a hostel and it was great. The staff are very friendly and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms were very clean and it was convenient to have secure lockers in the rooms to store items that I didn't want to carry around all day. The curtain fits well around the bottom of the bed and I felt no issues with personal safety etc. The only negative I can think of would be that the keypads beep when you use them - helpful during the day, annoying at night. However, I am a light sleeper, even with earplugs. I decided to book here again on the return leg of my journey, so it really wasn't that much of an issue!

MAKE SURE BOOK ONLY FOR YOUR REQUIRED AMOUNT OF TIME! I did like this place but had a couple of issues... 1. The USB charge points in my pod were both broken and after emailing reception as soon as I noticed they said they would have them repaired the next day but did not do so. I had been here 1wk when I WhatsApp messaged them resolving my issue with a bed change. That night I was disturbed by someone having being allocated the new bed I was in. 2. The heater in bathroom 1 never seemed to turn on. 3. I checked out 4 days early with no form of reimbursement for the four remaining days. I was staying in the place as a stepping stone to getting my own home, which I got quicker then expected. I am very disappointed that they cannot give me my money or even part there of back for early check out.

The way all hostels should be. Clean, affordable, and fun. I love that the pods feel a lot more like your own space than a typical hostel. The place was very clean and the staff was always ready to help. The location is prime and I enjoyed walking out to a view of the castle. I cannot think of a single complaint.

It's a nice clean hostel. It's style over function here. A lot of the bathroom and kitchen is quite clunky. The bathroom especially could of used a good think before they went ahead with it. They have square toilets but the toilet seat is round making your thighs rest on the porcelain. The lockers would been better if they could of held a full travel back pack (60-80 L) like a stand up locker. I was a little annoyed that the 3 pod mixed included 2 singles and dbl. I would go again and it was at a good price but the little things really started add up. PS providing small blastic baskets for the foods would have been helpful to keep the food storage better sorted.

Had a great experience overall. The contactless systems works really well with all the codes and information. Room was small but tidy and neat. The bathrooms were cleaned enough but the only issue was the shower on the 3rd floor. The tap wasn't working, was loose it all so couldn't control the temperature. But in general, it was really good, with good price and perfect location!

Be very careful when booking with this place. I booked months in advance for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival of 2022, and at the last minute CoDE cancelled my reservation without any notice, leaving me stranded without any accommodation during the Fringe when everything else was completely full. Apparently there is a problem with charging my card, but no notification was given to me, and I even received a welcome email 3 days before my stay. When confronted, CoDE simply shrugged their shoulders, apologized for the technical problem, but said there was absolutely nothing they could do because someone else had already taken my pod. They did not charge me, but no compensation or alternatives were offered. So just for anyone thinking of staying here, just be careful and make sure you contact CoDE yourself a few days before your reservation to ensure that your room is secured.
