terrible breakfast doesn't have enough room to accommodate everyone .... you need to order and finish eating but the tea doesn't arrive.... horrible, even if you don't want your room warm, anyway it stays hot for that the rooms in the basement are connected to the chimneys, there are rooms in the basement, the rooms are on the outside of the hotel, so you have to go in the rain to request something, there is no intercom in the hotel. Just awful. The room stinks of old, plus the door creaks every time someone passes in the hallway. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! HORRIBLE HOTEL

We had a wonderful stay here at The Haymarket and Lairg Hotel. Friendly and informative staff. Our stay was out of season so it was lovely and peaceful which is what we wanted. There was a little hiccup with another guest but after a quick phone call to reception, the manager dealt with the issue quickly and personally and gave us the reassurance we needed. Breakfast was served quickly and fresh. Nice selection of cooked and continental items. Our en suit room was clean and tidy. It was equipped with essentials including an iron and a hairdryer and plenty of storage for our luggage. We also had a brochure detailing the many sights and attractions in and around Edinburgh in our room. We would 100% stay here again and may do so in the near future and bring our children with us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

No sympathy for not being able to make our trip due to unforeseen emergency circumstances. We simply wanted to change our dates, not cancel, but were met with a very blunt response denying us any other options. I understand their policies but in the circumstances I’m sure many respectful business would show some decency during these times. Certainly will be avoiding from now on.

Very welcoming. Breakfast was good. Room clean and bed comfy. Let down by ripped curtains, damp smell and lack of air conditioning. Getting in and out if the bathroom was a challenge. Sink too big for the very compact space. Door handle on the wardrobe was loose and came off in your hand. The bathroom door was also being kept open and closed with a post it to fill the gap Could easily have been a 4 if the bits and pieces that were lacking are sorted

Booked in last minute due to unexpected circumstances. The price was so cheap I wasn't expecting much, just a junior / single room. I was pleasantly surprised they were very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint was on the first day I really was in need of a warm shower in the evening but it just wouldn't get up to temperature. Showers in the morning were fine though. That and the toilet lid wasn't secured so fell off when you open it. Everything else was great.

My dad and I stayed here in January of 2018 for two nights. Enjoyed it immensely. Manager looked after us well and the rooms were phenomenal. I couldn't believe how massive my room and bed (super-kingsize) were. Also it was spotless and clean. Tea/coffee in the rooms, TV, two person shower, towels, soap, shampoo and hairdryer. Buffet breakfast, after which I had to be rolled out of the door I was so full.

Great location, less than 5 minutes walk from haymarket Station. Very comfortable room, clean and tidy. It's a little basic but very good value for money. I added a breakfast which was very well cooked and work the additional £6. This is a great hotel for tourists and travellers.
