   Maybe I expect too much but attempt to buy sandals here ended with an older guy having a laugh - stating they sell them .... in the summer time. He looked old enough to know there's no summer in Scotland. Also there are outdoor shops selling stuff to people who are willing to travel. Certainly not this one.

   I went in for a gait analysis as I'm looking to get in to running although I have hypermobility. Fraser was really helpful and patient. He talked me through the shoe types and helped me understand which specific type I'd need.

   Most of the staff here are very friendly and helpful. But one male employee on the ground floor today was very rude. I came in for a warranty issue, but he didn’t even look at the product before saying it couldn’t be done. He interrupted me, spoke with a bad attitude, and told me to ask someone else because he wanted to help the next customer — who was actually behind me. I wasn’t cutting the line. Fortunately, the other staff were truly kind and helpful, and they helped me resolve the issue.

   I went in for a pair of walking boots. This will bebthe third pair I've bought from this store in around 7 years. I wear them pretty much every day & they are great value. The staff are always friendly and helpful - recently also.gave mengood advice when I was buying a compass. This is the first place I check when I need outdoor gear & I'm always happy to come back.

   Cotswold is usual an ok outdoor store with a decent collection. However, when we came in half an hour before closing time, the staff either had an extremely busy day, or they just got laid off. Little enthusiasm or attempts at communication.

   I have bought several pairs of shoes at Cotswold Outdoor South Cerney and have always had the most fantastic service. Unfortunately I can not say the same about the Edinburgh store. The man serving was not engaged at all with the sale . When the shoes were unsuitable he didn’t suggest different brands that may have been more suitable for me which has always happened in the South Cerney store. He seemed totally uninterested in any customer service. I went across the street to Tiso and had excellent service. The sales assistant measured my feet and looked at the structure (I do unfortunately have bunions). She brought out several pairs of shoes that she though would be suitable and I bought a new pair of walking shoes. Sorry Cotswold Tiso now gets my custom and my friends who was with me .

   The store has a great offering and staff is generally helpful. Prices can sometimes be high. I sometimes don't find the organization of the materials so intuitive - seems to be loosely by function (outer layers, inner layers) but then by brand? Sometimes found it hard to find what I was looking for in a way that one can compare all the options without carrying multiple things around the store - but maybe I just never got my bearings. Still, a great selection, and if you catch the sales, you can get a very good deal!

   Travelled here especially for a certain expensive drinks bottle not a lot of stockists so i was really pleased when they had exactly the one i wanted in stock. Very nice staff and shop is bright, clean, and in a great position in Edin.
