   ❌ Misleading policies, evasive customer service, and a refund system designed to trap you. I bought a pair of trousers at Nordic Outdoor in St James Quarter and returned the very next day, unused and in perfect condition. But when I asked for a refund, I was told bluntly I could only receive a gift card or store credit — not a refund to my card — simply because I had bought it in-store. This was never disclosed before or during the sale. The only mention of this policy appeared after the fact, printed on the receipt. When I contacted customer service, I was given a dismissive response quoting UK law out of context, implying that they weren’t obligated to offer refunds on in-store purchases. That may be technically true — but it doesn’t excuse the deliberate lack of transparency at the point of sale. I wasn’t told anything about return terms when paying, and their website return policy makes no mention of in-store restrictions. In fact, it ambiguously refers to a “refund” with no definition of whether that means cash, card, or gift card. To make things worse, their policy page appears to have been quietly updated after I raised my complaint — which is both suspicious and unethical. I had to settle for a gift card I didn’t want, because the staff insisted it was the only option. Overall, this experience has been exhausting, inflexible, and incredibly unprofessional. Nordic Outdoor may sell premium outdoor gear, but their return system feels like a trap: one that hides behind legal loopholes and vague wording to keep your money. ⚠️ Avoid shopping here unless you’re absolutely sure you won’t need to return anything. You may be stuck with a gift card whether you like it or not.

   Harvey was very knowledgeable about all of the products in the store. He was able to expertly explain all the subtle differences between the models of Fjallraven pants when we were shopping for trousers. He was also able to give recommendations when we asked about the different shells and the amount of water protection that they provide. He is clearly passionate about the outdoors and the gear. we hope to come back soon. We've had the most pleasant experience in this store and we left with heavy bags and smiles on our faces.

   I bought a hat for a gift. Member of staff clearly informed me that I can make refund If needed to do that. She never mentioned a word that it's only gift card refund but worked very hard to make me buy this product. When I came to do that refund different member of staff told me that I should read my receipt carefully because it says that they don't do other refunds than gift card!!!

   This is a good shop with some great products as per the other 1 star review. However, they are more than willing to offer as much information about their products when selling but fail to tell you anything about their lack of refund policy. I bought my girlfriend a backpack which I had communicated was a risky purchase as a gift but the lady who runs the shop failed to tell me at time of purchase that there was no refund available should it not be well received. Since the shop opened in the St James I have been in a few times and also purchased a coat for £470 so was pretty disappointed when she would only offer credit or an exchange for something I was returning as new with labels still attached. I won't give this shop any further business. Having received a helpful service from the sales advisor when buying I was really disappointed with her abrupt nature when trying to make the return.

   Lovely products and a beautifully merchandised store. The staff are also very friendly and amazing salespeople but unfortunately, in this day and age, they do not accept refunds on faulty items. I was sold a waterproof backpack but when water leaked into the protective interior laptop sleeve, I was told that the bag was meant to do that and it was ‘characteristic of the design’ despite the companies website stating that it was in fact, waterproof. I didn’t even want a refund, I just wanted to exchange a faulty product but instead I was turned away. I’m currently raising the issue further and I do not recommend purchasing from here.
