   We had a booking today, for a chill lunch, before the big man arrives in the big red suit arrives, seated get 2 drinks, from a lovely bar person, had to give it back wine was totally flat, she told us the bottle was opened last night, and top it off with some from a new bottle, asked it to be changed, all done, soup was ok, ordered steak pie, CAME IN A BOWL, What is that all about, diner came, absolutely COLD took back, all thay did was pour hot gravy over diner, I DONT THINK SO, I WORK IN THE FOOD HOSPITALITY, took back and changed it 2ND TIME, SAME AGAIN, COLD DINER, Even BOWLS DINER WAS IN Stone cold, a manager, came asked us if it was just the bowls that we needed to heat, Ehh, No, I want my diner warm, what a total shambles, for any establishment to ! Train staff to ask a customer that has already TOLD, them the diner was cold, O.M.G, what is the point in even telling them, SORT AND TRAIN STAFF.

   I am writing to provide feedback regarding a disappointing experience at The Sidings yesterday during an early birthday dinner with a friend. While the restaurant itself is beautiful, the level of service was very poor. We repeatedly had to ask for drinks and then had to request to order food, which was also not enjoyable. Furthermore, when attempting to leave, I waited at the reception area for a significant amount of time to order a taxi, as there were no staff present there either. I believe the restaurant is severely understaffed. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I do not plan to return.

   Local to us but hadn’t tried their restaurant before - though seen good things online! We were in the regular restaurant as Sidings wasn’t open so we’ll be back to try that. It was midweek during the day and wasn’t busy. Service was quick and we were checked in on regularly. They have a good Market Menu Monday - Friday, 12pm - 4pm. We went for 2 courses for £14.95. Drinks are reasonably priced too. Went for the haggis fritters to start and the fish and chips for the main - really tasty and quick to come out!

   We had our babyshower at the burnside hotel in November 2025 and the service was excellent. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, were really friendly and very proactive with getting everything ready. It was such a lovely day- afternoon tea was delicious. Really glad we had our baby shower here, thank you so much

   Stayed here for a family birthday function. The building itself is starting to show its age and would maybe benefit from a refurb, but the rooms are adequate for an overnight stay at a reasonable price. What really makes the venue are the staff, super friendly and helpful and the buffet provided for the function was very good, but for my stay it was the breakfast the next morning which really impressed. A full Scottish breakfast and my first experience of haggis, and it was superb. Would definitely stop here again overnight.

   Went to a wedding here today sat 18th feb was good day to be had by all food and service was great my only few complaints was table sittings no leg room at all too many cramped at one table other one was bar prices was a bit expensive

   Food for eight people and it was all amazing, full marks to chef. After eating table was untidy and had to clear glasses three times, bar staff could have been more attentive.

   Went here for a wake, the food was lovely, they even managed to do a vegan meal. The staff were very helpful and polite. The place could do with a facelift as it looks very tired, but overall a nice experience given that it was a funeral.
